He's a bit taller and better reach than Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson. He should test himself and move up to HW, he has no challenges left at 175.

that is silly, all his challenges are before him, Ward, Stevenson, Beterbiev, that other Ukranian dude with the hard to spell name (gvl-something) ,,,,

maybe I am wrong but I think Kov as most smaller dudes would get murdered by the bigger dudes, well at the very least beaten by them.

he has lots of legit challengers :bbb

Kovalev would beat the likes of Povetkin, Wilder, let alone the Top 10-20 but he would have serious problems with tall, powerful and skillful guys like Fury, AJ or Wlad. He can not beat them, it's just a too huge difference.

He doesn't have the frame. He's a cruiserweight at most, I'd say. It would be awesome if he proved me wrong, but I just don't see it happening.

No, I don't see him beating Povetkin, especially not this version. Povetkin is too big, too powerful. I can see him beating Wilder, though. Wilder is trash.

Maybe the bottom top 10, but he dies against guys like Luis Ortiz, Alexander Povetkin, Kubrat Pulev, Wladimir Klitschko, and Tyson Fury.

Wilder would knock Kovalev out in a most brutal fashion. Kov don't have an answer for that long right handed missile.

Tyson was close to 190 lbs of muscle as a 15 year old from what i have heard. His built was freakish. Frazier, to a lesser degree than Tyson, also had a freakish built. Those guys were built to be 200 + lbs fighters.

Kovalev is not. At best, he is a natural 180-190 lbs fighter regardless of his height. I am glad he is fighting at light heavyweight though. Light heavyweight has an amazing history as a division from Langford to Conn to Charles to Moore to Foster, Spinks and RJJ. Kovalev can be part of this amazing group if he unifies. The cruiserweight division sadly does not have the same history.

I would like to see Kovalev take on a few good heavyweights (say in the top 10 or top 20) if he cleans up at 175. It will be interesting. But its unlikely he could beat Fury or Wlad or some of the other top guys.

Nonsense. Tyson beat quality heavyweights like Tucker who were 6'5 and very skilled. You have to be joking if you think Fury or Wlad would stand a chance vs Tyson. He would destroy them both.

Athletes are getting better every generation, why would boxing be any different?

FFS Fury is 6ft9! Wlad is 6ft6 and cut like diamond

This. A 47 year old Tarver is ranked in the top 10 in today's heavyweight division. Malik Scott and Pulev are also ranked in the top 10. Tyson and Frazier would run through these guys.

If that is the case, i wonder why an old Foreman was able to put up a fight vs Holyfield and regain the title. After all, Foreman was from the 70's going up against 90's fighters?

Why was Holmes able to school Mercer, when he was in his 40's? Mercer was a top 10 hw who even troubled Lewis, yet an older fighter from a previous generation beat him.

Why was a 35 year old Agassi who made his tennis debut in the 80's take a 24 year old Federer to 5 rounds in the US open? After all, the players were a generation apart.

Wlad lost to Lamon Brewester out of all people, who was not half the puncher Tyson was, nor nearly as quick.

I don't care how biig Wlad is. Tyson would beat him unless the ref allows Wlad to clinch all day long. Don't tell me that Tyson does not have the speed and power to put him away when lesser fighters did so. Fury may be 6'9 but he isn't an exceptional puncher, nor is he extremely quick or anything. He's a decent fighter in a weak era for Hw boxing.

The same Wlad who got stopped by the ATG Ross Puritty or Fury who got dropped by Cunningham, who couldn't beat a 47 year old Tarver.
