Hey dip****. I'm 5'10" and 158 pounds. But I wouldn't fight at MW, I'd fight at 147 because pro boxers cut weight and do it without draining.

Why is this so damn hard to understand?

He didn't ask to post what weight you'd fight at did he?

Then how can you compare it to another pro boxer? You can't be 5'10" 160 pounds lean and say you look like GGG in build. Because Golovkin walks around over 170.

Yeah, all those guys made welter for a while, until they were forced up to a more natural middleweight. Welterweights are usually around 5'8", least they were during day of the fight weigh ins. Now, you can be a natural middle or junior middle and boil down to welter. Most of those guys you just listed didn't have to make that weight the day of the fight.

That's one of the most frustrating things about comparing the careers of old time fighters to modern fighters. You can't compare divisions to the same divisions because the modern norm for that division is often 15 lbs heavier and two inches taller. Middleweights today would have been light heavyweights back then.

Nah, I just think he didn't have a normal healthy diet growing up that allowed him to fill out right. Same thing with Tommy Hearns and a couple of other guys. Once they started making money and eating right, they flew up the weight ladder. I think it's like the difference between American diet and Asian diet.

As for them not having power, I don't think that's always true. Guys who are that much bigger than their opponents are going to have a mechanical advantage just with the bigger frame, the longer arms, etc. Probably better muscles made for a bigger man and better chin. Size advantages shouldn't be underestimated.

Plus, there's a difference between being light for your size but growing versus being big and starving yourself to be light. The second of those is what weakens people. The first not so much.

Plus, I think with what we know about modern dieting and exercise you could be like a vegan or something and maybe drop twenty pounds while maintaining an athletic body. I think that's how Bernard Hopkins did it for so long. He didn't Yo-Yo his weight. He just got down to 160 and stayed there, so he wouldn't balloon up and have to cut weight every time. He fought a guy even bigger than him, Keith Holmes, who was a vegan but was almost as big as Evander Holyfield. I'd love to know what Bob Foster's diet was to stay at light heavyweight when he had Ali's measurements.

5'9, 175lbs, Alvarez on fight night ay ay. Tho most my weight is in my legs I think lol (418lb squat, 440lb deadlift, 230lb bench, which is pretty disproportionate, considering I go to meets and everyone has like 270lb bench at around my squat n DL level)
