Yeah, and after that, he had the good performance against Mayweather then looked shot against Trout....then came back again and looked rejuvenated under Roach

That's pretty indicative of their respective career paths actually.

Cool post. For Morales I think the temporarily shot part comes from overuse. He had 3 wars with Barrera, countless rough fights with gatekeepers for no reason. Then another savage war with Pacquaio. Then he went to 135 and then back down to 130. All this happening in 5 years.

His body said F you. Then he had to recover.

Juan Manuel Marquez wins in any era.

For those of you voting for Morales on Epoch 1, here's two reasons why he definitely loses.

    1. Undiciplined, didn't stick to the gameplan and would get lured into a war. His fights with MAB were proof of this. You war with Marquez and you're playing right into his strenghths as nobody is better at counterpunching aggressive fighters.

2.Stamina! Marquez by far had superior stamina. Morales would get shellacked down the stretch of any fight in any era with Marquez.

The matchup actually could have happened after Morales gave Marcos Maidana a go of it. Morales priced himself out though and since Marquez always felt Morales and MAB both ducked him at 126 lbs, Marquez just decided Morales could go **** himself.

Morales fought disciplined against Pacquiao for the first 11 rounds so it can be done.

A disciplined Morales is the heavy favorite against Marquez. Because he's taller, longer and just a better technical fighter when he wants to be. Morales fights to his competiton.

There is a reason fighters ducked Marquez at 126 lbs.

Freddie Roach rated the fighters back before Pacquiao even met Marquez at 126 lbs. Roach didn't like that Pacquiao's promoter signed Pacquiao to fight Marquez.
In an interview Roach said he would chosen to fight Morales, then a rematch with MAB before he would even consider having Pacquiao get into a ring with Marquez.

Don't know if Roach would admit it now, but back before Marquez ever got in a ring with Pacquiao, Roach thought highly of him to voice he was the better of the 3 Mexicans.

    He did not!!!!
Morales dominated Pacquiao the first half of the round taking if not all, 5 of the first 6 rounds.
But what was an easy first half got complicated and close on the scorecards as what I saw was Morales losing steam, slowing his workrate, and letting Pacquiao back into the fight the 2nd half.

......and lets not forget that Morales admitted to repeatedly viewing and getting his blueprint from watching Marquez school Pacquiao in fight one.
Even so, Morales stamina almost cost him the fight, he was pretty close to getting stopped in that last round against Pacquiao.

At the end the scorecards were close because Pacquiao outhustled a Morales fighting on fumes.

Good thing for Morales that night that Pacquiao didn't so whats Marquez did with regularity, and that's attack his skinny frame or Pacquiao would have stopped him even that first fight.

Actually Morales did fight to his competiton that's why until he started fading he was beating everybody except MAB.

A disciplined Morales wins a moderate paced fight against Marquez.

He's too long and too skilled for the Marquez who struggles with tacticians.

Only Marquez didn't struggle with tacticians.
For some reason, a lot of you believe that a counterpuncher like Marquez should consistently land on a mover just as much as he would an aggressive fighter.

Name me one fighter in history who looks just as dominant against movers than he does stand their ground fighters?

Marquez struggled with tacticians and Morales didn't?
    Does Raheem ring a bell?

You know as well as I do, Morales isn't the type of fighter to employ a jab and lateral type of o gameplan. He sits in the pocket to long and Marquez with his quicker hands and feet would exploit that.

Morales is longer, yes, but don't forget to factor in that he's the slowest of the mini-fab four.
