Bowe is a superior boxer to Lewis

It's obscene that these guys never fought in the pros. I blame them both. We wouldn't be having these debates if they'd gotten in the ring together.

 

Resume is everything, especially given that it was clearly Bowe who ducked Lewis.

 

Bowe = better fighter

 

evander holyfield fought both guys bowe at his short peak and lewis at his peak and evander said lewis would have beaten bowe ...he stated 99 version of lewis beats 92 version of bowe deal and holyfield should know cause he fought both men and you didnt :deal

Lewis has clear edge resume. Actually Bowe for the era he fought in has a pretty embarrassing resume.

Bowe had a poor defense and poor ring IQ. Also poor habits outside the ring. Why he washed up before his 30th birthday.

His career pales in comparison to Lewis although he did fight the better version of Holyfield and he defeated him much more impressively.

 

Bowe threw away the belt to avoid finding out who was the superior boxer. His management did it literally but Bowe allowed them to do it. He could've said he wanted Lewis.

Rid**** Bowe did have tremendous ability but he just wasn`t able to prove it in the ring in the real world. They only shared a ring one time and Lewis stopped him.

 

Bowe had more talent then Lewis, sadly didn't have the work ethic

 

These attributes appear to be a saw off to me but Lewis had one very important attribute between them and that's confidence. If Bowe really deep down felt he could beat Lewis they would have fought. That was a legacy fight and they both knew it.

 

At the end of the day it amounts to the same thing.

 

That`s debatable. If Bowe did have more talent it was marginal. The true advantage Rid**** Bowe had was that he had a great trainer from the beginning of his pro career. Eddie Futch schooled him to be a complete heavyweight. It wasn`t until later that Lewis had that that chance with Emanuel Steward.

 

Eddie futch walked out on bowe because he got sick and tired of his non existent work ethic

 

Yes because Bowe squandered his talent. Lewis on the other hand got the most out of his. When Steward took the reigns we saw Lewis become a complete heavyweight. He developed that left hand. His jab was stronger and he even started dropping guys with his lefthook.

 

Better boxer maybe but better fighter, probably not.
