Thing is Povetkin is a massive massive step up for Wilder, but he's just another fight for Povetkin albeit he has a paper belt. Wilder knows he's in big trouble.

The only individual in this arrangement who went to purse bids, called off the title fight claiming an injury, only to have his trainer say later they pulled out because the trainer thought he'd lose ... and instead took a fight for a lesser belt ... was ALEXANDER POVETKIN.

Povetkin went to purse bids with Wlad in 2008, pulled out claiming a training injury (Atlas said it was a lie and he - Atlas - said he didn't want Povetkin to fight Wlad because he'd lose) ... and then they went on later and fought Chagaev for the REGULAR WBA belt.

And when Povetkin and Atlas parted ways, Povetkin fought Wlad and got destroyed.

Povetkin won his Olympic Medal in a walkover. (The guy was too injured to fight.)

Povetkin won his only title (A WBA REGULAR BELT) because he was too afraid to fight for the actual title.

And now Povetkin's people have been saying for months Wilder would back out or Wilder would dump the belt or Wilder would fight Martin ...

Because Povetkin's team thought they'd get ANOTHER easy belt.

    Well, they aren't going to.

Povetkin isn't going to be handed the WBC belt for fighting nobody - LIKE HE GOT HIS GOLD MEDAL.

Povetkin can't fight for the WBC REGULAR belt .. because they don't have one.

If Povetkin wants the WBC title, he's going to have to beat Deontay Wilder. And Wilder is ready to take his head off.

If anyone pulls out of the title fight because he's afraid he'll lose, it'll be Povetkin. BECAUSE HE'S DONE IT BEFORE.

    :good

How many times has Alexander Povetkin challenged a reigning titlist for the belt and won?

    Never.

People can say what they want about Wilder but he hasn't done or suggested anything to this point to show that he doesn't want this fight. The only reason its been delayed was due to Povetkin signing for a fight with a no mark a month after negotiations were supposed to take place.
