Marciano didn't fight super heavyweights, and his "top" elite wins were against over the hill guys. Floyd's resume is by far better than Marciano's, in terms of quality and it's not close. Marciano might have had the size disadvantage, but Floyd's quality of opposition, wins were much much better.
First off, what you've typed is completely disrespectful. If you're a genuine boxing fan, show some respect. Yes, Rocky's record is better for me, because of the huge disadvantages he had. In effect, Floyd is penalised for being great. Which I appreciate sounds unfair, but look at Floyd's physical and technical gifts. He had some of the greatest skills of all time and a 72" reach. Rocky was very small, with only a 68" reach, and he was limited skill wise, facing guys who were technically better than him, and who were much bigger than him. Therefore he found it much harder than Floyd and the rest of the guys on that list. Joe Louis was faded when he fought Rocky. There's no disputing that. But he was coming off of 7 straight wins, and consider the stats. Joe was 6'2, with an 8" reach advantage, and a 30 pound weight advantage. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but in my opinion, you guys aren't looking hard enough, and you're not taking these types of circumstances into account. When did Floyd ever fight anyone with a 30 pound weight advantage and an 8" reach advantage? Rocky's back was up against the wall, in a way that none of the other fighters were.
Yeah. Louis was done, man.. Sure, he fought seven times already that year and went 7-0 (3) and beat some decent fighters, but he was hanging on by a thread and looking worse every time out. Louis vs. Bivins especially was a very dull affair, with Bivins close to done himself and spoiling like mad, and Joe never connected a meaningful power shot all night & barely pulled trigger. I'd say Pac coming off Algieri, Bradley II & Rios was in better form.
That's exactly what I'm saying. As a modern example, if you had a time machine, it would be like sending Artur Beterbiev back in time to fight the guys that Rocky did. Yet, Artur is better technically, and he's got a bigger reach. It's a testament to Rocky's toughness that he was never beaten. Because a 5'10, HW, with only a 68" reach, has no business at HW, no matter what era they were from. Considering what he was up against, Rocky's 49-0 run was a great feat.
Floyd's unbeaten 20 year career is truly outstanding. But again, how did Rocky even make it to 49-0 with what he was up against?
Rocky didn't have to fight super HW's to be outsized. I've given you Louis's stats. Louis wasn't a super HW, yet he had huge physical advantages over Rocky. Floyd has a 4" reach advantage over Rocky, despite starting out as a SMW. That's how small Rocky was. In terms of quality, yes, Floyd fought better overall fighters. But again, Rocky was up against it a lot more. Also, Floyd's best wins were against past prime fighters. Floyd has never beaten an ATG while they were prime. All things considered, Rocky's win over Louis is probably better than any of Floyd's wins.
IMO Mayweather has most impressive record. And it´s not even close. Btw. Ward shouldn´t even be considerate.
