BUT..Manny wouldn't be in that category. His punch resistance and workrate are the stuff of legend at 126. Plus he's the much bigger man here.

Manny needed more seasoning (balance and over-reliance on his left hand) in the early 2000's but he was still very very good. Hamed hit hard but was reckless, he took very serious chances namely his corkscrew leaping uppercut and leaving his chin high up.

All this talk of a close fight is nonsense. Manny feels Hamed's power early but by the mid rounds is walking him down leading to a TKO.

Yes it is no doubt Hamed was a beautiful thunderous puncher. But as if Manny can't handle that. Seriously, what from his run at 126 makes you feel Manny wilts? The JMM fights were total wars, numerous blows and Manny stood up. The first Morales fight was brutal and Manny gutted through it.

Plus Manny is just as fast as Hamed (Foot and Hand speed).

Hamed, for all his flashiness, could seriously whack. None of the guys you mentioned had anywhere near his power.

 

Yes, its Manny's ATG run at 126 that has me backing him so hard here. I'm a big fan of Hamed at 122, that's his optimal weight and I think his power was even crazier there than 126.

BTW Morales, JMM and Barrera are among some of the finest aggressive boxer/punchers we have ever seen at 122, and 126. That's not a knock on Manny as you have suggested, in fact its is a massive MASSIVE advantage to him.

Hamed, was a slick hard hitting counter puncher who preferred his opponents coming to him.

Pacqiauo is a face first slugger who struggles with counterpunchers, but neither of the ones he fought (Mayweather, Marquez) hit anywhere near as hard as Hamed did.

Hamed could take him out if Manny gets reckless, he has that power, but I wouldn't bet on it. People that point to the Marquez fight should think again, because they fought three times previously without Pac walking in to a similar shot. Maybe Hamed could take one out four to, but I doubt it, he was no way near as skilled a counterpuncher as Marquez.

People can talk all they want about styles, but Manny was just so much better that it wouldn't matter. If Hamed somehow managed to get him the first time, Manny would adapt and thrash him in the rematches.

After all, we are talking about a guy who knocked out a bunch of nobodies and then lost when he stepped up in class and faced a name fighter, against a legend who wrecked numerous hall of fame fighters, including the same fighter that outclassed Hamed.

 

JMM, MAB, Morales don't hit half as hard as Hamed. Not even a roided 140lb JMM hit harder. Hamed was taking out guys in 2 rounds who went 12 with Morales. Sparring with cruserweights, hitting as hard as a middleweight.

Including about 10 world champions. People calling them nobodies just show their own ignorance.
