    Prime vs prime
Inspired on the hilarious thread monzón vs leonard.

Is nunn too big for the great WELTER?
Or does not matter if he faces joe frazier... After all he is leonard he wins.

Yeah, not much to say really. If the Nunn who beat Tate fought the Leonard that beat Hagler, then Nunn would have romped home an easy winner on points.

With more experience and more self-belief, Nunn could get the stoppage.
Bigger, faster, rangier, younger, fresher...aside from experience (always a factor of course) Ray is in a deep hole. But so would Hagler have been if he were fighting Nunn instead of Leonard.

I don't know. If this were between Nunn and the only middleweight version of Leonard that we ever saw which was from 1987 onward, then Nunn wins. If an early 80s Leonard were to make his way up to about 159, he might have had a chance but we never saw that rendition of sugar so.....

no version of Ray beats Mike. Mike is one of those guys Ray is naturally afraid of and sure enough, ray's worst fears are realized as he cannot find Mike's wiry form. To make matters worse, Ray cant find Mike but Mike has no problems finding Ray as Mike bends him over with a hard left to the ribs, severely damaging three of them, then drives thru a lethal uppercut, driving Ray's nose bone through his brain

as with Norris, this is stylistically the wrong fight for Ray

Leonard is not doing well against this southpaw. This was a bout I wanted to see happen but one side was never going to sign a contract for this fight.

Leonard is going to handle guys that leave openings but not youthful reflexes types that don't trade. If you think about it, Frank Tate was no easy night's work for Leonard either.

Nunn is a tough out for anyone at 160...but here is some food for thought...In the other thread "Best I've Fought" Nunn described a faded Curry 'as wise and smart' and the best overall...I wonder what he would have thought of a prime and very sharp Ray Leonard? Maybe Leonard isn't as out of his element as people think...

Nunn by a comfortable UD. Leonard liked his opponents to be static and easy to hit. A tall rangy southpaw with good defence is all wrong for him.

A very tough match up for Ray ... Nun was a much bigger guy , super elusive, a solid chin and stamina ... most likely Nunn by decision ..

Tell me Red, did Leonard tell you he was afraid of Nunn? Anyman willing to get in a boxing ring in front of millions of people isn't a coward. Leonard if the money was right would of fought Nunn, esp if Nunn was as respected as say Hagler was. Because like ANY great fighter there egos are such they don't think they can loose. It part of what makes them great/main reason they stay around to long. Would've thought such a wise poster as your self would know this. But as for the fight itself, I don't see away Leonard could win this. A tall super slick south paw would be in my opinion to much for Leonard, esp at middle. And esp the version that fought Hagler. Nunn Unanimous dec.
