Once he saw margarita jogging towards him while he was exhausted he knew it was time to throw in the towel.
This is exactly why he lost. No bricks. He fought the wrong fight. While watching the fight live i said to myself "this is the most moving I have ever seen cotto do." Cotto is not a mover but for the first 6 rounds thats what he did and he simply got tired. I dont think tony did anything special in the fight except just coming forward. Once cotto was gassed he was easy pickings.
Cotto wasn't winning on the cards. One judge had it even and two others had Margarito winning 96-94. Had he made it to the finish without the knees, he would have lost 116-112 on two cards and 115-113 on the other.
So when the going got tough he just took a knee? People get tired, it's part of boxing. Maybe Cotto should have conserved more energy?
Daniel Santos, and he won mainly because of the size difference. Santos came in at 180 for a JMW bout. Margarito without the size advantage he held at WW was a sitting duck for a gigantic, southpaw with a good chin..... note: Daniel Santos was very underrated
Nah he looked like **** at 154 every time he fought. Size had a lot to do with his success as most modern pressure fighters for that matter.
One thing getting knocked spark out that can happen to anyone and you dont have choice to get up but quiting is totally different when you have the chance to fight on but quit its pathetic
"all he has to do is to hang on for just 1 more round" That's easier said than done, for sure. Not 1 round but 10 more seconds can be lifelong in boxing.
lol at this "hard" guy. You probably have a hard time dealing with a paper cut. If Cotto's corner was doing their job, they would have thown in the towel. Cotto got the prime beat out of him that night. He should have taken a knee earlier.
