Scary scary fighter. One of the greatest of all time. Taunted like Ali. Punched like Foreman. He also had a freakish build. http://media.gettyimages.com/photos...for-a-portrait-circa-1938-picture-id502195260
Scary guy, most definitely. A real athletic freak looking guy, too. Rarely put it all together, tho. I would not qualify him as one of greatest of all time. Rather, he was one who really underachieved, at least from the physical hand of cards God dealt him.
Tommy Farr, heart of a lion, granite chin, great left jab vs Madcap Maxie, killer right hand and one of Mae West's boxing conquests.
Both he and his brother Buddy were big, strong guys. They would be big in any era. Baer absolutely wasted his raw athletic talent with his lackladaisical attitude to training and light-hearted approach to the fight game in general. With the right attitude and serious approach to the game, he could have been a far more formidable force than he was.
