AT the risk of leaving someone obvious out, and using Cyberboxingzone as the lineal test, i go with the following: (in no order)*

    1. Joe Choynski
    2. Sam Langford
    3. Tommy Burns
    4. Roy Jones Jr
    5. Archie Moore

    * Les Darcy was not considered because he is too controversial.

I discounted Langford because I could not ascertain enough concrete weights for him at 160lbs.

This is too bad...I like Darcy quite a bit, and having a rational discussion would be pretty cool...in fact any rational discussion around here would be great. Too many keyboard warriors anymore.

Loads of people were recognised as a title holder during that period.

But not once was there a true champion because the top 3 wouldn't face each other. And when the top two did fight, it was over the limit.

Why would you not have Darcy and why is being controversial a reason and was it his fault ?.. you are an Aussie I thought. I don't think Choynski fought much under 158 back then, he usually weighed about 167

What do you mean colored champs? There is no such thing as race once you step inside that squared circle. A champ is a champ.

They would rate along with Darcy if you ignore all Lytell's terrible results. He lost to too many very ordinary fighters. I was angry when I called him a bum though so don't pay too much attention to that

Not sure where Burley was ranked at the time........ I would doubt anyone here would have Darcy in their Top 50 which is sad... a top 100 would be painful to try I admit lol. It seems to me that Darcy is easily the most underrated fighter in the forum

I had Darcy in my top fifty. It's the only top fifty i'm aware of being posted on the forum. You were furious that he wasn't high enough within it at the time that i posted it.

Your general appraisal of the board and where it rates Darcy is way, way off. It just doesn't rate him as highly as you (nobody does).
