True. Morrison would probably lose to Norton though. He would have lost to prime Carl Williams too. Which is funny, because Williams was made to measure for a left hook and had a weak chin. But Morrison struggled to beat a washed-up Williams who had already lost to Jerry Jones. Morrison just wasn't good against anyone good. One notable win in his entire career, against a 44 year old fat man. That's it.
Smith was hot and cold thru out his entire career, not just toward the end. He lost his pro debut LKOby4 James Broad. He beat a bunch of bums just like a lot if people do early in their career. He did win a 6 round decision over future CW world title holder Ricky Parkey. He was supposed to lose to Bruno and Bruno did outbox him for most of the fight but Smith hurt him in the 10th and last round and the fight was stopped (rightfully so). Holmes broke Smith down and stopped him in the 12th round. Tubbs beat Smith by clear decision. He beat Ribalta by SD. He lost 11 out of 12 rounds vs. Witherspoon. He dropped M. Frazier but lost by decision. He stopped a 28-11-1 Weaver in 1986, KO1. He won a MD over Ferguson. He won a clear decision over Bey. THEN, he stopped a Witherspoon, KO1... which has so much stink on it a skunk would blush. Next up was his fight with Tyson. I liked Smith but he usually came up a little short when it mattered most. Morrison had his ups and downs as well. He was the favorite vs. Mercer. Even though Mercer showed some toughness vs. Cooper, not many people expected Mercer to take Morrison's bombs the way Mercer did for almost 4 rounds. In round 5 Mercer stopped Morrison. I feel that had the world already knew just how tough Mercer's chin was, Morrison may have had a different fight plan. Things were going good for Morrison again but then he was stopped by Bentt in the 1st round... too much partying and too much relying on his power. He did as well as he could vs. Lewis but was stopped in the 6th, he already was infected with HIV. He had looked pretty bad vs. Puritty as well and walked away with a draw. His fight with the still dangerous George Foreman showed he could stick to a smart fight plan. Vs. a guy like Smith I think Morrison would do just that. Smith is no Foreman though, not even an old Foreman. I think at times Morrison would be much more aggressive than he was vs. Smith and eventually would break BoneCrusher down.
norton had ****py chin and you pick him to beat punchers so its the clear proof of you are a biased hypocrite
you are like a little parrot answering my posts when i never ever knew who you are or if you are in the planet
That's because I never replied to you before today :deal I don't know you, why would you know me dingbat? :rasta Unless you have secretly been reading my posts and became scared when I replied to you and compensated by trying to act like you don't know me "Polly want a cra-cker up its ass?"
Tommy had many great assets, but he had a genuinely bad chin and worse stamina. His stamina was abysmal for a contender. I see Smith taking some big shots but hanging in there, smothering and holding and making a nuisance of himself. Morrison will unravel at some point. I hate to say it but he often did.
Why do you only notice Norton's glass chin but you're blind to everyone else's glass chin ? You ignore the fact that Morrison had an even worse chin. You ignore the fact that Ron Lyle was knocked dizzy by a single Ali punch, and was later knocked out by bum Lynn Ball and knocked down by bum LeDoux. How can Lynn Ball knock out Lyle in 2 rounds if Lyle's chin was so great ??
Somewhere down the line, Morrison will get ****y and leave himself open (as he did vs Mercer and Bennt) and somewhere down the line Bonecrusher lands that powerful sneaky right hand, like the one he rocked Tyson with. Smith by Ko after being behind on the cards.
lyle got hurt cause the hitting Power of ali or maybe because he got gassed late just like foreman? Ali got stopped by larry holmes, tyson got stopped by danny williams and mcbride.what a ****py chins.. Get out of here stupid troll
Norton was stopped by Foreman, Shavers, C00ney, Garcia. 3 of them had far more hitting power than Ali, and Garcia possibly hit as hard as Ali too. So why are you going on about Norton's chin ? Norton stood up to Ali's punches every time, and 15 rounds with Holmes too. Lyle was KO'd by Foreman, Ali, Lynn Ball and Gerry C00ney. 4 KO defeats, same as Norton.
Goes the 12 round distance with prime Tyson Goes the 12 round distance with prime Witherspoon Stopped in 12th round cuts against Holmes Wins by KO against Bruno in round 10 KO1 Weaver KO1 Witherspoon And people seriously think that mediocre Tommy Morrison knocks this guy out ......
Kinda silly, ain't it? People still stick with the Morrison myth. Funny how no one around at the time he fought really thought that much of him.
It's like the Bentt fight never happened.. Or the life and death battle with an 8-8 Ross Purity that very nearly resulted in defeat.. Tommy Morrison was an entertaining fighter to watch who admittedly had some decent attributes.. But his accomplishments and abilities topped out at fringe level.. Bonecrusher smith ascended to being a top 3 heavyweight at one point and spent the better part of a decade mixing it up with the best of his division.. While I firmly believe that anything can happen in a boxing match regardless of the odds, the pure and simple matter of the issue is tommy Morrison should NOT be favored over James "Bonecrusher" Smith...
