However they don't seem to protect them like they do in boxing. UFC has that going for it at least.

So how exactly was Connor McGregor, who showed up in shape and with single digits body fat, fighting above his weight class? He looked perfectly natural at 170lbs. When he goes down to featherweight he's actually fighting below his weight class, that's all.

Every fighter cuts weight. To call him out and not everyone else is silly. He would more natural at 155, but not 170.

170lb fighter? Forget about the catchweight weigh in, Nate Diaz is a 155lb fighter...So if mcgregor moves up to 155lb those are exactly the dimensions he will face. Mcgregor better stay down at 145lb , that is until he gets kidney failure or other severe health complications due to cutting the ridiculous amounts that he does. Long overdue for ufc to put in a ~10% bodyweight rehydration restriction.

Single digit body fat? Maybe for a dorito-feasting basement dweller

He loses his attributes and effectiveness at a higher weight.

    :deal

If he'd fought a real guy at the weight then CM would have been destroyed.

Diaz is a 155lb fighter, they just fought at 170 because it was last minute and Diaz wouldn't be able to do a proper weigth cut. McGregor and Diaz will walk around at more or less the same weight.

I seen that coming. If they rematch at UFC 200 it should be @ 155. Conner may make it to 4th round in that fight.

Conor lost because he was literally out of his depth. He'd never fought anyone with that much height and reach on him. On top of Nate's reach advantage, his style of boxing makes him even longer in the way he leans and extends out his shoulder on the punch.

Nate's boxing style is unorthodox but it's arguably some of the most effective MMA boxing in the UFC. Watch his fight against Cerrone. Just like the McGregor fight, he drowns his opponent in half-power punches in high volume. Other good examples are his fights against Nori Gomi and Michael Johnson.

On top of that, his jiu jitsu is world class, e.g. his submission win against Pellegrino who is also a solid wrestler and grappler.

If Nate wins the rematch, and I think he will, Ido "Touch Butt" Portal will never work in this business again.
