Everything in Ali's record against presure fighters with a style like Marciano suggests that he would be in the fight of his life.

Those predicting an easy win for him are just not being realistic.

You know it is funny but Doug Jones, Henry Cooper and George Chuvalo more than proved that they deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as Ali.

This one was posted on the same day as Louis v Ali - and while that one dropped like a stone, this one is still going strong. What is it about this one, the style match up? Or is there something cultural?

I am afraid that there are dark undertones to this match up.

Exactly...and we must remember Marciano had a powerfull left hook and doubled up with it real well, Marciano had two hands and an awkward style that Ali would have trouble timing, Bonavena and Mildenburger were no Marciano but there awkwardness made Ali look bad and I repeat Marciano was a much more brutal puncher and a fighter that had the WILL to win and stamina over 15. I see this fight as being competitive but those who see it being a mismatch for Ali, simply know nothing about Marciano or are not being realistic in regard to Ali

Marciano cut on occasion - Ali cut a lot of fighters. Marciano is a formidable foe who took less punishment than is polularly believed (underated defence) but he is there to be hit, and hit plenty, by an accurate puncher. Ali is an accurate puncher.

I don't feel I am underestimating Rocky or overating Ali - I just feel that the toll that Ali would collect when Rocky was on his way in would be huge - to big. And speaking of to big, although Rocky is stronger than Ali, in terms of functional strength he may actually find himself outdone when he gets inside - which may mean a very quick end to the affair.

Muhammad Ali soundly outpoints him and perhaps even stops him on cuts.. While Marciano had some stylistic similarities to Joe Frazier, he didn't have the rate of upper body movement to slip Ali's jab or the hand speed to catch Muhammad as often or as effectively as Joe Did. That and Ali's biggest weakness was the left hook and Frazier had one of the very best. Ad that to the fact that Frazier was 20 lbs heavier and maybe 1-2 inches taller, the difference between Rocky and Muhammad would be significant.

    doug jones and henrry cooper?
both fights in 1963. i did think that we are talking about a pime ali 1966-67 not a green boy.
chuvalo? all i watched is ali playing with him and chuvalo took a boxing class, ali took damage in the ribs because he made the clown and he left chuvalo hitting him.

actually i am not surprised about this trash "argument" coming from you.
you usually use bad moments in the career of the fighter that you are arguing against in order to make a point against him, and you talk like if he was in his prime . you are the stupid one who use the foreman vs qawi fight as evidence of marciano would beat prime foreman. when the people tell you " foreman was old when he fought qawi and george dominated him without problems" you answer " old foreman was better than 70s foreman and the 5´5 qawi gave him problems and marciano was much better than qawi".

you are a ****ing idio t dear.

so the word of ali is automatically the truth right?
then joe frazier is a gorilla, joe louis is a bum, and ali would knock out dempsey early and easily. all words of ali.
ali did not even face marciano, so tell me how he would know who was better?(please dont mention the computer fight and this porky marciano as proof of anything).
joe frazier was 20 pounds bigger than rockky, was faster, had a better left hook, took a better punch(YES), WAS MUCH HARDER TO OUT BOX, was better pressure fighter, better body puncher.
and tell me as it answers to the fact that ali was not in his prime when he fought joe?

Ali talks in different ways at different times. He wasn't glib in this interview.

Sparring in the ring with someone is a step above pure speculation. You're actually feeling the other guy out. Ali's opinion of Marciano flipped after that computer bout.

Marciano was faster than Frazier. He had more explosive power. He had more power in both hands. And he was a much better puncher. He was tougher to fight in the inside.

Frazier would get smoked by prime Ali. Marciano vs Prime Ali would be a very close fight.

Marciano was a far greater hwt than Frazier. Just the fact he had two fisted ko power gives him the nod. Ali himself stated he did not know if he could beat Rocky and stated he was a greater fighter than Frazier.

Bout would have been a war. Could go either way.
