great weekend for dundee boxing at the weekend with both mike towell and ronnie clark winning in british title eliminators. who's got the best chance going forward in reaching british honours?

mike destroyed robert dixon inside 2 rounds but was dropped and cut in the fight and was also rocked on a few more occasions. as exciting as mike is i think he gets taken out by the top guys at welterweight but whoever he fights it will be interesting while it lasts :good

ronnie pulled out a hail mary punch despite being a couple of rounds down against jordan mccorry on friday night and it was probably the worst i have ever seen him live. he looked slow and lethargic and just couldn't seem to get his punches flowing. i also noticed that davie mcallister was not giving instructions but was there? strange lol maybe davie can expand on that? but the finishing punch was a cracking left hand and jordan was out of it. possible rematch for him against maxi hughes in a final eliminator but that is a winnable fight and i can see liam walsh giving up titles so another possible rematch with troy james?

i don't think either of these guys will win a british title but i think if ronnie can sort himself out and get back to boxing instead of just using his size because he really can box when he wants to. but seems to be ifor this fight he thought size would be important, maybe because jordan had been boxing at light weight

mike really needs to get back to basics and work on his defence tbh, like i said he is very exciting but he risks being ko'd against harder hitters than robert dixon. his coach jamie coyle usually has his boys well schooled but he seems to be struggling with mike for one reason or another.

ronnie has best chance out of the 2 imo :good

Regards to a final eliminator v maxi I can't see that being passed by the board. Their is Martin j ward already won eliminator against maxi as well as the likes of townend jupp Cacacae. Cud well see some more eliminators being made. But a lot will depend on Wat liam Walsh does. Imo he vacates and Troy v ..... whoever big promoters jump on it.

I dont understand why Walsh hasnt been moved passed British level?

Even George Jupp has a interim world title fight this weekend, Walsh is by far the best sfw in the country but is so inactive its a joke.

It might be cause he wants to win the belt outright but I do agree his past that level.

Billy Nelson stated that Ronnie Clark had found his level already last year so based on that opinion he has no chance.

Billy knows the Jock scene inside out and the only prediction I have seen him get it wrong was Burns v Crawford.

lol well if billy nelson said it then it must be true :rofl:patsch, billy and ronnie have history iirc and billy sometimes lets that get in way of his judgements. ronnies family and him have had some really funny battles about sparring etc on here and boxrec forums.

here is a couple of things billy said that were not quite true:

ricky has a faster jab than amir khan :patsch

ricky is the number 1 lightweight in the world :patsch

the draw against beltran was the correct result :patsch

    quigg would beat frampton :patsch

he also makes crazy statements about fighters that have trained or sparred in his gym or against his boxers. he tried to convince us that bradley saunders was special too :patsch

billy is good for scottish boxing but to say that because he has said things on here must be fact isn't the case even the big man gets things wrong as proved above.

ronnie on last weeks performance doesn't but i watched him against cacace and he wasn't that far off and he went to birmingham to box troy james lost a split, drew with ryan walsh in norwich, been told that when he boxed craig evans the referee was a bit biased to say the least. all of these guys are at least british level and when you are losing on close, highly disputed decisions then imo that makes you higher than area level.

i don't think he could beat liam walsh but i give him a chance against any other super featherweight in britain but i will wait and see because as mentioned he needs to improve dramatically from his performance against jordan. but please don't try and let billy judgement on fighters sway you :good

To be honest Ronnie was the worst iv seen him in any of his fights against McCorry. Did a lot of things wrong in build up, think an element of over training came into it, didn't do weight properly and end of the day had an off night, but to pull off a stoppage 24 seconds from end in that manner is what makes a fighter . He had him hurt in 1st round and throughout the fight but made it competitive. In my opinion Liam Walsh has moved up a level, he's world level now and looks as though he will be vacating and fighting for a world title. Ronnie deserves his chance and he won't get any favours he will do it the hard way. Cacace fight again although I felt Ronnie fought ok he started to late, went for the finish in 10 and got caught silly. Troy James was close again started late and gave up middle rounds. Craig Evans as far as anyone is concerned was a disgrace and Ryan Walsh was similar. Draw in his hometown and when the reporter reviewed it he released a statement saying Ronnie won' the fight. We hope Ronnie will fight for a British but if it's Maxi in a final eliminator we are fine with that. Martin J Ward also has to fight a final eliminator and looks to be going down a different route. Cacace is in same boat none of them will be mandatory as above and not a chance Walsh fights them as a choice. If Walsh vacates I think be vacant James v Ronnie with winner v Maxi within 90 days similar to the Ryan Walsh situation. Well I hope so haha

Iron Mike Towell- I'm gonna be honest I have always doubted him when he goes up against a tidy boxer but recently I have started to see that they can't live with his pressure . Fair enough Dixon isn't Brad skeete but Towell will just go in there and have a tear up with him and do exactly what Barry Hearn wanted egginton to do. For me he has a chance. There belief of it being in Dundee isn't true as there is no chance of that but who's to say he wins it and a defence doesn't happen up here.

For me both them are in a great position, Ronnie has to have a more consistent face in the corner with full time training with his own trainer rather than travelling all over for sparring and just working himself to the bone. Trust his fitness as he's a fit guy who's never out the gym and box to his strengths. Take what he does in the gym into a fight. Great time to be from Dundee with Jamie Wilson also looking to push on

Ronnie has done it the hard way but imo townend (English champ) jupp Martin j ward wud b in line b4 Ronnie. Ronnie best win is Curran yes good draws away from home but the others have noted wins.

They are not going down the British route, they need to do eliminators etc. Jupp is fighting this weekend for an interm I'm sure I read. Andy Townend is mandatory for the commonwealth which will be vacated and Martin j ward I don't know . Ronnie is the Scottish champion and in place for a final eliminator and we will take that route but we will push for the chance everyone else is wanting

Ronnie v Martin J Ward would be a very decent fight

Wen the title becomes vacant ward will soon b looking at that title same as jupp and townend By winning a eliminator doesn't guarantee a final eliminator.

no matter what happens Ronnie will keep working and get a final eliminator. Martin j ward , George jupp or Townend are no more deserving that Ronnie. They have had about 5 meaningful fights of their own. Ronnie will fight any of them. Martin ward has fought maxi, Townend best win against cope? And jupp against an over rated Mitchell smith who doesn't train. He's for sure not out his depth against any of them or less deserving . Cacace would stop all of they guys mentioned

I never said Ronnie was out of his depth. Their r a few fighters in the mix with good cases to b put forward. Board notices will b interesting wen Walsh makes up his mind Wat his doing.

I agree with Ronnie deserving an eliminator not sure I agree with Cacace stopping all of the above though.

but winning an eliminator does mean that you can be recommended for a shot at the belt or at least a final eliminator. if jupp wins staurday he won't be interested in the british, martin j ward has struggled against maxi twice and was lucky that he injured maxis nose in second fight, he is also going down the international title route that could get him rankings with world bodies so can see him not that bothered either. so that would leave troy james, anthony cacace, maxi hughes and ronnie clark in pole position for shot at title and final eliminators imo :good
