Margarito and Castillo are nothing alike, tho I do think Margarito would give Floyd problems in the last 4 rounds or so. In his prime Castillo was leagues above Margarito. Better puncher, better boxer, better pressure fighter, perhaps even better chin. Margarito only had his size and chin he's a poor man's version of Castillo.

The thing is that these thing doesn't matter anyways. It's all pure speculation that fact of what happend is that Floyd went through 5 divisions in a 17 year long career undefeated.

He's the best fighter of this era and one of the best fighters of all time, Margartio isn't.

Castillo didn't beat Mayweather, it was the only razor close fight win in Mayweather career. The rematch Mayweather managed Castillo aggression a bit better.

Margarito 147 was unfairly an over-sized opponent for Mayweather 130, so its not something to shun Floyd about. Floyd secured his legacy at 130 & made excellent business decisions outside of 130

Castillo is a much better overall fighter than Margarito, no doubt.
The problem for Mayweather against Margarito would be the strong possibility that a sharp countershot by him wouldn't be enough to make Margarito pause.
Where the normal fighter pauses after getting hit, Margarito just doesn't. I've seen situations where a punch throws Margarito off balance and he'll deliver his next shot off the wrong foot, he just ****ing keeps on coming and coming and he gets his shots off however he can get them off.
If you're a fighter not accustomed to a high workrate which Mayweather is not, that's going to be a major problem for you.

"I'm ****ing hitting this guy and he's just punching right through and with my shots!"
There lies the dilemma for Floyd.
Its the unconventional fighter that's prone to give great fighters problems because they have honed their craft to combat conventional type of styles.
Jose Luis Castillo fights very conventional. Guard up, chin tucked, leading with the jab. That's conventional.
The blueprint to beat an Antonio Margarito is completely different than it is to beating a Jose Luis Castillo.

Margarito brings more volume, size, chin, and workrate over Castillo.

Styles make fights folks, some of you don't want to equate that to a lesser skilled fighter like Margarito, but it applies to them as well.
A much lesser skilled fighter can beat a more skilled fighter simply due to size and style of fighting.

Iran Barkley twice beat Tommy Hearns, once by KO, and the next time by decision. He beat Hearns both ways, by KO and by decision.
Barkley the much less skilled fighter than Hearns.
Very comparable to the difference in skill between Mayweather and Margarito.

What Margo doesn't bring is skill and you must have that if you're gong to beat PBF. Especially a jab and a decent defense some footwork and a ring IQ. Margo doesn't fit that bill coming forward eating shots like Margo likes to do doesn't win you fights against ATG opposition skills do:deal and PBF has that in spades. You're hoping that Margo would wear down arguably the best defensive fighter in history that's a long shot. And PBF has great stamina has never shown signs of fading with ATG reflexes and footwork to evade Margo on top of that Margo isn't a big puncher.:patsch It's really a far fetched wishful thinking proposition.

You're right styles make fights and a ATG ring master like PBF style is all wrong for a limited slow plodder who's wide open with average power. It simply can't be any other way, PBF is a stylistic nightmare for Margo and wouldn't lose a round to him.

That's your opinion, I've backed my assertions with facts and examples.
An ATG can lose to a limited skilled fighter if that style of fighter is all wrong for him.

Now who the hell has beaten a healthy Margarito by picking him apart from long range with the limited workrate that Mayweather offers?

I've never said that Margarito would definitely beat Mayweather, but you'd have to be a blind nuthugger, which obviously you are of Mayweather to not at least admit that there are qualities in Antonio Margarito to give a fighter of the style of Mayweather problems.

    Size? Advantage Margarito
    Chin? Advantage Margarito
    Workrate? Advantage Margarito
    Punch resistance? Advantage Margarito
    Durablity? Advantage Margarito

Then there are other variables that cant be measured, like heart and determination.
Is a fighter willing to walk through hell to reach a goal?
CHECK! Again, advantage Margarito. Never ducked a fight in his life, fought all styles and never cherry picked!
The slow footed lumbering Margarito fought a much bigger fighter than himself that held a lot more physical advantages over him than Mayweather would not hold against him in Paul Williams and gave him hell.
Sylistically, it would have suited Magarito to avoid Paul Willams as Mayweather did as Williams held a height, reach, size, quickness, speed, advantage over him. In addition, Williams was accustomed to fighting at the same workrate that Margarito did.
Yet Margarito did not duck Williams, he fought him.
    Did Mayweather?

Mayweather ducked Margarito, Williams, for years did not want to face Pacquiao. Waited ti'll KTFO6 to finally get the courage to sign to fight Pacquiao.

Ducked Amir Khan and fought the slow lumbering Marcos Maidana twice!

Did Mayweather fight that fighter that had height, reach, and quickness and speed to exceed his? He chose Andre Berto for his last fight while having bypassed Amir Khan for several years.

ATG??????? An embarrassment of a cherry picker if you ask me.

Nobody is denying Mayweather's skill level, but lets get real, he was a cherry picker of the highest order who had admitted to seeing for his safety first.
Nowdays in his retired days, Mayweather publicly spends his interview time giving fighters like Canelo Alvarez advice about looking out for number one and waiting out the dangerous Gennady Golovkin.

In other words, Mayweather is advising Canelo, "Duck GGG, it aint time to fight him. It aint time to face him. You can face much more beatable opposition and get paid."

In other words Floyd Mayweather spends his time giving out his blueprint. The blueprint that has gotten him this far undefeated.
The blueprint is to duck and cherrypick.
Floyd Mayweather's own words, a ducker and a cherry picker.

I ask you, who has Antonio Margarito ever ducked????????

    Class dismissed!!!!! :deal:deal:deal:deal

If Bob Arum says this guy or that guy beats Floyd they buy it and run with it. No matter how many times Mayweather proves them wrong they still hold out hope that one guy Floyd didn't fight would beat him cause he bigger and weigh more. That really all Margarito has over Floyd, he is bigger abd weighs more but like you said, he has no skills Other than size he brings nothing to the table Floyd hasn't seen or conquered
    49 times already!

Margarito posed absolutely no threat to Floyd...NONE.

All I hear is that he just keeps coming forward....so the fukk what..Floyd has ever had an issue with making a fight boring and one sided for 12 rounds....Margarito...oh my would be the absolute biggest snooze fest.

He's slow very slow foot and hand......he does nothing well but take a punch. ....that is not enough for a fighter like FLoyd because he is fine with scoring and getting out the way and keeping distance for 12 rounds.

I don't get a lot of you...this is exactly he fighter you say he hand picks and is a easy fight. Someone actually made a paragraph about nothing but Margo is big and strong and can take a punch....yea ok

Waited those two years for business purpose.
Would'nt have looked good on his resume and it wouldn't have sold nearly as much PPV had Mayweather not allowed Pacquiao a couple of fights against limited fighters as if to show that somehow he was back to the same old form against C level opposition.

Its part of the Mayweather blueprint. "I'll let Pacquiao beat Rios Bradly and Algieri and gain some credibitly back and then I'll beat Pacquiao using Marquez' blueprint and claim it to be my own. :nut

Who has Mayweather fought that has Margarito like qualities?
Size, workrate, stamina, chin, durability, desire, ability to walk through punches and send off his own?
Who that Mayweather ever faced had the ability to take 3 or 4 flush shots to the face and have it not deter him from sending off his own shots??????

Who that Mayweather faced threw 100+ shots a round despite getting repeatedly tagged and just kept on with the gameplan and shugging along not letting punches in the face deter him???????

    WHO???????
