Why the Hell is Ricky Burns getting a title shot?

omar did naff all in that fight just put pressure on and barely did anything..burns would of had the nod in the uk..he showed in that fight just how bad omar is overrated...talk about home town score cards they were a joke

Ricky was bloody awful to watch that night. Constantly holding and spoiling. Was lucky not to be disqualified it was that bad.

 

clearly 114-112 burns and loads had it that way including a lot of americans..but either way he showed in that fight he has what it takes and no he was not awful your just a hater of burns..everybody said it was a great performance your first person to say otherwise

 

In the age where anyone and everyone gets a world title shot, I think we can forgive Ricky Burns one more shot. Nine straight world title wins at two weight classes. Lost to Crawford and Zlaticanin which is no embarrassment. Got a massively raw deal at the hands of Figueroa.

I don't think we should forgive one case just because there are several such cases. murder is murder.

 

Well, i won't presume to know the ins and outs of Ricky's business dealings, but like most fighters i assume his promotional company has the most say in who he fights. As for him being a warrior - Ricky did appear to duck Broner, but he has fought some good fighters in his time. Going all the way back to the Graham Earl and Alex Arthur fights, Burns has took on fights that other, more saftey first fighters may have swerved.

As for the Hearn quote; as you pointed out, it was Hearn who said it, not Ricky. Don't blame someone for what others say about them. Especially when it is a boxing promoter, whos job it is to (over) promote a fighter. If you can understand that then maybe you wouldn't get as wound up over the guff that comes out of Hearn's mouth in regards to Joshua.

 

So you think Burns will regret it, and should take the lesser pay day, because your kudos will more than make up for the loss of income?

As much as I wish it is that easy, I do not think when Burns buys his shopping, the store will accept 'HerolGee's' kudos as payment...
