Thing is, with Bill , Liston 1&2 appears to have become a fixation.
Regardless of what happened in those 2 fights, all the bleating in the world ain't gonna change a thing.
Ali won, regardless of how and why and he really should learn to deal with it and move on.

A snapping shot to the temple can be pretty disorienting.

I reckon intimidation WAS. Not in the "You hit me...I hit you and we'll see who comes out of it" kind of way. Sonny was fine with that.

More the "Oh hell......I'm going to be made to look a mug again" Kind of way. Much the same as Roberto Duran in the second Ray Leonard bout.

I guess Rid**** Bowe stopping Holyfield in a similar manner was also a fix?

I mean, there's no way anyone would stop Holyfield with a single punch right?

It reminds me of Marciano's right against Walcott or Louis's versus Braddock. Such venom; how Liston survived it is beyond me.

The punch had almost no weight on it and was largely an arm punch. As both Dempsey and Marciano said it was a light punch, others at ringside said it wouldn't have crushed a g****.

Many at ringside felt it was a powerful blow. SI who were at ringside wrote there was little controversy AT RINGSIDE by those who were in a position to see the punch.

that's the other thing about that fight that stunk.
Where did the gnome, fleischerget the power to over rule former champion and referee, Walcott????
The count shouldn't have started till Ali went to a neutral corner so Liston could Dive again

I don't think you fully understand punching. You can throw a power straight with the same shoulder snap used in a hook. Also he forcefully jumps off his back foot. Look at his chest ripple after it lands.

    Sigh
