If Liston wins Clay I fight, next defense?

If Liston legitimately k.o.'s CClay in 2 rounds
as most "experts" expected, who was the next
logical #1 contender for a "whupping"?

    Ernie Terrell?
    Machen?
    Chuvalo?

I doubt there would have been another Patterson or Williams.

Good choices....Machen might have had a legit claim, but Liston vs Chuvalo might have been interesting if older Liston has to go into late rounds in a 15 round fight.

I agree that Chuvalo would have been the most interesting. I wonder if his face would have been too broken up from Sonny's telephone pole left jab to make it the whole 15.

Fight probably would have been up in Canada with George trying his very best until the fight is stopped in the 12th in favor of a Liston TKO and George off to get 85 stitches in his face.
