Seriously, he should have got the decision against both Sergio Martinez AND Felix Sturm. That makes Martin Murray a genuinely good MW - the best on GGG's resume, better than Lemieux.

 

Those fights were close but Murray LOST. Legitimately.

Let stop playing this "should have got the decision" game. He didn't. Murray had two losses when he faced Bumlovkin whereas Quillin was *undefeated* when Jacobs KO'ed him.

He's a great fighter, one of the best of his era, but far from perfect. I don't understand how these threads keep getting started when we have youtube and anybody can go watch footage of Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Roberto Duran, and Benny Leonard too see what true greatness really looks like. Even they weren't perfect.

 

If he'd taken that fight, especially at 168, assuming it was ever viable, you'd have attempted to deride him in your meagre way.

That is pretty damn impressive and he get's it by taking chances. Does this mean he takes punches he doesn't need to , yes it does but it shows his opponent i am coming to get you which makes them go into a shell eventually like Curtis Stevens , a very durable dangerous puncher who got beat up physically AND mentally .

GGG could be like Mayweather and put on a clinic but he chooses to go for the stoppage and that makes him unique and avoided like Caneloweight is doing .
