Much has been made over the past few months as to who will be the heirs to the Mayweather or Pacquiao thrones in the Welterweight Division, many names are bandied about Errol Spence Jr, Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Dmitry Mikhaylenko, Jessie Vargas, Sadam Ali & Amir Imam (obviously not), Konstantin Ponomarev, Kell Brook, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman....many of them already established or well on their way to it. I'm not entirely sold on some of them, there's many question marks about Kavaliuskas, he's got impressive power, but how well will he do when he steps up, Mikhaylenko lacks power and is absolutely amazing at swarming and outworking his opponents but he may have his limitations, Vargas while seemingly a fighter reborn after his great performance against Ali, is headed in the right direction, but I still have my doubts. Ponomarev is definitely skilled but his lack of pop may prove hazardous for him in the future. Spence while impressive as hell so far, his competition up until now has been somewhat lackluster and quite featherfisted, so who knows how good his chin really is. Ali and Imam as I've been predicting have glass jaws and got exposed, sure they may bounce back, but its obvious they have a ceiling.

Shawn, Kell and Keith are the heir apparents, Shawn is entertaining but limited against truly skilled fighters, Keith seem to not deal well with pressure and is obviously packing glass, up top and in the midsection. Kell is most likely the total package of the bunch, while his style isn't necessarily thrilling to watch, it gets the job done and he's going to be hard to beat.

But of all of the up and coming fighters the one I think many people are sleeping on big time is Sammy Vasquez Jr. the hard hitting southpaw has been tested far more thoroughly than the other prospects I listed and he's passed those tests with flying colors, sometimes in a thrilling near fight of the year manner. The Army Sergeant and Iraq War veteran from Monessen, Pennsylvania is the very definition of a well rounded fighter, he's a chameleon, he can be a sharpshooting counterpuncher, an effectively aggressive pressure fighter, or a bombs away blood and guts warrior, or sometimes a hybrid of all three, add to that he has an iron chin and is defensively responsible, and unlike many other prospects, he wants to entertain the fans. He's one of the most well rounded and versatile fighters in the sport and deserves far more attention than he's received thus far.

Here's a rundown of some of his accomplishments of the last few years, many of which have been far superior performances against common opponents of many of his fellow prospects.

    Sammy Vasquez Vs. James Stevenson
Battle of two undefeated fighters, someone's 0 had to go, and it went in thrilling fashion, on a little seen match on FS1 Vasquez stalked, outworked and meticulously beatdown in very impressive fashion the talented prospect Stevenson with relative ease. He slipped, bobbed and weaved his way through the match using awkward angles, combination punching a brutal body attack, a solid all around performance. He had James basically out on his feet for the last 3 or 4 rounds. When Vasquez was rocked halfway through the match, he came out for the next round and took the play away from James in a big way, Stevenson tried to jump him and paid dearly, Vasquez badly stunned him and continued to thoroughly dominating him for the rest of the fight up until the mercy stoppage. It's an amazing fight, a Fight Of he Year contender for 2014.

    Sammy Vasquez Vs. Emmanuel Lartey
He dominated the fight from the opening bell, didn't lose a round out of ten against the teak tough Ghanaian fighter, at that point lartey only had two losses, one a MD to Felix Diaz who is incredibly solid and has a win he was robbed of against Peterson, and the other a match against Errol Spence Jr. thankfully for Errol it was only an 8 rounder, Spence gave Lartey everything he had yet in the 7th, Lartey rocked Spence hard, the shot effected Spence so much he basically took the entire 8th and final round off most likely as a way to not risk getting KO'd.

    Sammy Vasquez Vs. Wale Omotoso
The iron chinned Nigerian by all rights went into their match an undefeated fighter, I'm not sure how anyone could score Omotoso's fight against Vargas for Jessie at best it was a draw at worst it was a close loss for Vargas, but no way did he win. Yet here comes Sammy to put on yet another contender for Fight Of The Year for 2015, he outboxed Omotoso for the first half in impressive fashion, he got bloodied midway through and it became a fire fight, with both men winging bombs at each other, it was a brutal beautiful match with Sammy rightfully winning with the cleaner harder punches. He could have fought the whole fight the way he did the first half, but he wanted to please the fans, something many fighters tend to forget now days.

    Sammy Vasquez Vs. Jose Lopez
While Jose Lopez may be just a Mexican journeyman, he's a tough as nails Mexican journeyman, his only clear losses were to Humberto Soto and Viktor Postol, he also has a win over recent Margarito victim Jorge Paez Jr. Neither Postol or Soto were able to drop him, but Vasquez not only dropped him but stopped him for the first time in his career in a masterful performance that resembled a southpaw version of Groves performance against Froch in the first half of their first fight, he counterpunched the hell out of Lopez, making it look easy.

    Sammy Vasquez Vs. Aron Martinez
Aron was coming off of a banner year, he outworked and beat up Alexander coming damn close to stopping him in the last round, and earlier in 2015 he outworked Robert Guerrero dropped him and basically had him out on his feet, he was closer than anyone has ever come to stopping the Ghost, Robert boxed intelligently edging the latter round to win a disputed decision. So most though artinez would be a handful for Vasquez, well he wasn't, Sammy boxed his ears off and stopped him in round 6, he claimed it was due to a hand injury, but that doesn't account for the fact that he was outclassed for all the round leading up to it. Vasquez was better in every department than Martinez and looked far better than either Devon or Robert did in their matches.

So I did this thread to put people on notice of Sammy its apparent to me and should apparent to anyone who has seen him he's the real deal and could be a real problem for most of the top players in the division, his performances up to now point to him being on the next level, it's time people started taking paying a little more attention to him and realizing it.:deal

The Who Can Mexican Will Be A P4P Player.:deal

Keep those insults coming, it only serves to prove how little you know, and exposes you as the casual fan that you are.

Another newbie who seems to know a hell of a lot about many of the posters on here. You could at least attempt to not be so obvious you're someone's alt couldn't you?

Not one person I've done one of these type of "essays" on have been KTFO.

I've done threads on over 400 fighters, there's bound to be a few that suck, but I've singled Sammy out because he's deserving of a little extra attention. Because he is a dark horse in the WW discussion, that everyone seems to be oblivious to.

For the record I'm a Douche Slayer the finest this nation has to offer, but since you're only a low level douche, I'll let you off the hook for now.:yep

I never did a "special" thread on him, and I stated multiple times on my thread of him he'd most likely be beaten by most of the top fighters at CW. I even warned on the thread that Durodola would be a tough test for him.
