Jerry Quarry vs Leon Spinks

I think Quarry wins....but Spinks would test him for sure.

 

I reckon Quarry would beat Spinks to a pulp in 5 rounds.

 

Jerry Quarry was a sharp counterpuncher who would set traps for Spinks to walk into. He had that snappy left hook. Spinks was a tough guy and brought some energy, pretty good work rate.

I`d choose Quarry probably by stoppage.

 

Quarry by KO, however, it is hard to know what Leon could done if not for all the neon.

When he wanted to be, Quarry was an excellent counter puncher. Quarry by TKO in three our four. Spinks was way too easy to hit.

 

Given Leon's defensive holes and Jerry's punch, I think this is a rousing battle for a few rounds until Quarry lays him out cold.

 

Jerry would be happy to have someone his size.

Agreed. Quarry should win convincingly but it doesn't necessary have to be a one sided blow out. Leon was actually a pretty good fighter when he was sufficiently prepared and in truth beat some decent opponents. It's only because he had the type of crash and burn type career that people often mistake him for being a bum, but that isn't the whole reality of the matter.

 

Quarry by seventh round kayo. Spinks couldn't hurt Quarry, and Quarry could hurt him. Big difference.

 

Quarry within 3 rounds. A great counter puncher finds a wide open target.
