Ali had let Alzado hit him then poor Lyle got ****y then tried to KO Ali. So Ali hammered a jab at him which snapped his head back afterwards Lyle avoided Ali.

Wow, he looked better than I remember!

Lyle was probably on the PED cutting edge.

I remember hearing some stories about a journeymen from the 70's who juiced significantly. Trying to figure out who it was.

This is not saying much, but, I think of all the footballers who tried boxing, Lyle was the best. I remember Too Tall Jones, Mark Gastrinou, etc.

Alzado freely admitted he used PEDs from freshman year college on. He continued after his football career was over simply because he did not want to loose size. He recorded a commercial that was never used, but should have been.

I remember hearing about this exho at the time

Alzado believed his brain cancer was caused by the roids, but doctors said it's not certain that was the reason he got it. Many guy roid for years and never get cancer.

I remember the announcer in this fight, **** Schap (?) saying "I gave that round to the champion of the world, because he IS the champion of the world". That summarizes Ali's second reign pretty nicely.

I thought that Alzado actually did very well. He showed an ability to counterpunch, he had decent handspeed, a nice selection of punches, and he didn't move awkwardly or robotically, as one would expect a relative novice to move.

One has to wonder how he would have done had he tried the sport for real, instead of football.

    Very entertaining exhibition...
