Did you see Sugar Ray square off against kid Gavilan?

Can't disagree with this assessment. Like I said, earlier, the only way it's competitive is if Duran gets in the inside and stays there for most of the fight, even then Duran could very well lose. But give SRR distance and room to use his size, and Duran doesn't stand a chance.

I doubt Montreal Duran could even deal with Montreal Duran. Maybe Tokyo Douglas could work one corner and 1992/235 Lb. Bowe could work the other?

This bout was when we first found out that the "Keed" Gavilan had an iron chin able to take the best of Robinson's combos and hold his own...First time I saw Gavilan I recall...

Why would Cuban government keep this footage secret and unseen by the rest of the world ?
Do they have a record of hiding away sporting footage or other interesting archived film ??

Robinson KO's him early I think. People like to compare the two Sugar Rays, but Robinson was taller and much more powerful than was Leonard. Therefore he would be better suited to deal with Duran, just like the tall and also very powerful Hearns was.

This is no easy fight. I reject all notions that SRR KO's him early or easily. The form, drive and shape Duran was in... I could see him making this a good fight. People act like fighters didn't have success fighting how Duran did in Montreal against SRL...Fighters did beat SRR fighting like that. Granted it was at MW, but it still happened.

Agreed. This is a tough fight for Robinson. I think Sugar Ray would win the fight but to suggest Duran doesn't give him a run for his $ is absurd.

I like Ray by KO late, his accuracy at MW was great, and if it was supposedly better at WW with the speed and power, I'd say him and Duran tussle well for 4/5 rounds until Ray starts to dominate, in fact it would probably look like 14 Feb. But with an even worse KO
