I watched this bout live and clearly had Whitaker winning. Then I watched it 20 years later and to my surprise it was more competitive than I remembered. So the Op has a point but a draw is too much. I had it 7-5 Whitaker. He deserved the win but to me Holyfield Lewis 1 is far worse robbery.

I've scored it a couple times 8-4 and once 7-5. The problem is that JCC won his rounds by very slim margins while Pea mostly took his emphatically. I don't think in my most Chavez biased mode, I could get to 6-6.

It really would have been nice to see this match-up a few years beforeand 10 pounds lighter. Whitaker carried his abilities much better up the scale.

Agree wholeheartedly with the last paragraph. It's funny, cause no matter how many times I watch it.. even trying to give JCC rounds.. I still end up 8-4... meh

I watched it again yesterday and it was more competitive and a better fight than I remember.

Chavez looked like his timing was off and a little stiff and slow that or Whitaker made him look like it.

I scored it Whitaker by 3 rounds being a bit generous to Chavez.

Chavez had no business fighting at 147. None.

To summarize, if you view this fight a draw, find another sport to watch
