He performed well against both, let's be serious for a second. The injury vs Byrd was a damn shame, and Lewis did what ATG's do and dug deep and found a way to win. Credit to him. But if he had not opened that gash, it would have been him being stretchered out in the 6th. He was simply too out of shape to hold up in a serious fight.

Thin compared to whom? Liston, Dempsey, Johnson. Not really. It's better.

He also had a more successful old guy comeback than Foreman.

Moorer was better than anyone Vitali ever beat.

^ Dempsey's record actually sucks bals, resume' wise. Really, it's pretty sad for an ATG. If we didn't actually have footage of him in his prime, fighting, he'd sink without a trace. So you have a point there.

Don't know what point it is you think you've made.

You can watch Vitali in crisp HD display a complete laughable and embarrassing set of 'skills' against Kevin Johnson.

His career was carefully managed and manufactured for a reason.

Wow, so he lost to Kevin Johnson? Hmm. Maybe I should re-evaluate my opinion, then :think

That's debatable, but certainly coming back after a 4 year lay off STRAIGHT into a fight with the reigning world champion, and then beating said world champion like a red-headed stepchild, is unprecedented.

Foreman went on a can-crushing expedition before taking on better fighters.

Foreman beat one ranked fighter. Vitali beat like 6-8 in his comeback.

Oh yeah, and the undefeated thing.

Vitali beat 4 top 10 rankers. Not 6-8.

    Gomez
    Adamek
    Peter
    Arroela

The equivalent of Vitali's comeback is Foreman beating Michael Brennt to become a paper titlist.

    Vitali>Hide>Bentt>Morrison>Foreman

Solis was in in many top tens. Chisora wasn't rated but head to head was top ten. That's only four or five times as many Uncle Tom. You got me.

FFS Dino, you always have to exaggerate. Peter was the legit champion. His record was pretty handy at the time. Brennt

Dwight Muhammad Qawi , Bert Cooper , Alex Stewart , Pierre Coetzer , Micheal Moorer.

They were far more capable than Vitali's best.

Saverse , Grimbey , Kooney , Schultz , Briggs -- the same if not better than the other names on Vitali's record.

Once again, Sanders was old and fat. It's amazing to me that this win is regarded so highly. Sanders was totally at the end of the trail.
This not not meant to demean the win or the victor but let's be honest here.
Sanders was a cherry pick gone badly wrong for Wlad, and that really is the only reason he has any relevance here at all. Vitali was merely cleaning up the mess Wlad spilled.
Sanders was a talented fighter, but he was already over the hill against WLad. Even more so against Vitali.
