Strong knees and a strong neck will help. So much i can say from personal experience. Punches get less painfull.

Personal Experience as a trainer or boxer :think

The pain part is easy, lots of ways to not feel pain, if a boxer wants that. Although most boxers are trying to avoid getting Knocked down (those punches don't hurt), so how is pain relevant :huh

Will neck training (elite neck) strengthen the chin?

Which is better to let the neck snap with the punch or strengthening the neck to not snap and take the punch full flush.

Is the KO the result of the neck getting snapped or the result of the trauma from the impact.

Improving defense & strengthening clinch muscle groups is more proven to reduce KOs :smoke

YOU HAVE TO CHANGE HEAD SLOTS, that is the only way to take a punch to the face while reducing the impact, you can also make your opponent miss your face by centimeters. a lot of fighters nowadays don't understand the importance of changing head slots, and FLINCHING(there's nothing wrong with flinching). but on another note, there's no possible way to strengthen your punch resistance.. you can either take a good punch or you can't. tex cobb didn't do any of those retarded neck workouts, but he still has the hardest chin in history.

You can protect it but not improve it

Manny Steward had Thomas Hearns fit for a different mouthpiece before the Leonard rematch, saying he had some sort of jawline issue that made him vulnerable.

I kind of rolled my eyes at it, but he didn't get KO'd after that. (the stoppage to Uriah Grant was an ankle injury).

For whatever that is worth. Probably not a hell of a lot.

Of course you can improve your ability to take or give a punch.

Hunter is one of the best trainers in the sport. He knows his shet.
Khan's problem wasn't just his chin, but also his offensive and defensive posture. Things that Hunter could fix.
