Ok so this is a rather an open question and i expect some answers to be different but other than bath salts and steroids what have been the drug of choice throughout the eras. Cycling has some of the most advanced drug scheming going on and whilst its expected that they are all on drugs many are not getting caught. Are we going to assume that boxers or any pro athletes dont have access to the doctors that supply the tour de france ? What is the bigger picture when it comes to boxing and perhaps the unknown drugs that have greatly influenced fights but perhaps would not show up in a test years ago.
Most cyclists are clean now days and it shows in their performances, no longer are they capable of almost inhuman feats, although Team Sky have clearly found a new method of doping that can avoid detection, for the time being. The way they bring average in every way cyclists onto their team and within months they're climbing like mountain goats and time trialing like Armstrong and Indurain in their prime should send a red flag up to anyone with half a brain. My point is, you can usually tell when something isn't right in cycling, a vast improvement in form from one season to the next is always suspect in my opinion. Same goes for Boxing, when their punching power increases exponentially and their body type drastically changes from one match to the next, they're probably doping, sure you can improve and hone your punching technique and physique, but usually not that much.
I just don't understand how they get away with it. My brother is a 3 time Olympic and 3 time Commonwealth athlete. During competiton and out of competition times, he has to declare where he is to Drug Free Sport New Zealand. If he travels down the country for a night to catch up with me, he has to declare it. Drug Free Sport NZ can turn up anytime and require him to fill a cup. Is it that New Zealand has a big focus on keeping their athletes clean, or is it that other countries have lax regulations?
Drugs do not give you skill. It can help your power, stamina, and such but it will do nothing for you if you still don't know how to fight. I don't know what the obsession is on this board with steroids, but I hope some of you are actually fighting so you can tell the difference. Other than that I will not accuse anyone of being on drugs until it is official.
Many fighters in the past have lost fights where if they had just a little more power or stamina they could have won. That's always been the case in boxing and it will continue to be the case. The obsession comes from the fact that taking drugs can increase your power and stamina. Which can have a large impact on your fights. Technical skill is an important part of boxing. And drugs will not improve that part of your game. But your power and stamina is also very important too which can be enhance with drugs. I don't know which drugs directly improve your speed though. You can take steroids for example to jack up your strength and power. You can take EPO or do blood doping to jack up your stamina and workrate.
Olympic sports have different standards to sports like boxing - there's no real defined organisation who the boxers are truly answerable to.
With regards to doping in general, I think too much is often made of it. I don't like to see it, but doping doesn't give you technique - without which, you can't hope to succeed. It's less of a problem in a sport like boxing where the athletes prepare for 6-8 weeks and then only have one performance. As opposed to a sport like tennis, for example, where recovery is almost as important as ability. The strongest man in the world is not the hardest puncher in the world. That being said, I still don't like to see it. Hard to be angry about it in any sport which doesn't apply the same rules to every participant or which does not have year-round OSDT. The fact this is not the case in boxing makes it difficult for me to get too upset about it.
I understand but many fighters were in drugs and lost fights too. The results come out after the fight like with Shane Mosley and Klitschko who were both busted after the fact that they were beaten by a better fighter.
Gh has not been testable until recently. The new trend in testosterone supplemention has been to administer it orally and topically in small fas acting doses with short half life that is undetectable after a short period.
Tell me what it is so that I can buy it. I need the energy just to get through the day sometimes. I was watching 2 young guys spar at Undisputed down the street from me and I got tired watching them through the glass. If I have to ave a real life fight and it goes more than 5 minutes I'm looking for the cops, just think about a real life combat sports pro thats over 30 like me.
If a fighters is going to Dope then they should go all out full steam ahead with it. I'm talking daily injections.:yep Forget about taking chances on getting suspended because you put some Cortisone cream on your saddle sores!atsch
I'm sure almost every steroid in Las Vegas gyms come from Mexico. And you don't need a Memo to go get them for you either. There sold quite openly. Getting them across is the hard part. But I bet they can hide a lot of steroid vials in Big Church's lower intestine and colon ! atsch
