An awful lot hinges on how well Blackwelll uses his jab, and overcomes his too-frequent slooooow start to fights. If he starts fast and makes maximum use of his jab he wins this, possibly even surprisingly easily.

Eubanks lack of two critical things, a jab and power could see him exposed here.

You think Eubank lacks power Len? Why do you think Spike chose to quit?

This isn't intended to be inflammatory, it's a genuine question.

I think Eubank Jr. still. Decision most likely.

Eubank is not the most skilled fighter. Blackwell should be able to make it a war.

I'm with Len on this, his power is way overstated. yeah Spike quit but it was something to do with damage to his ear. He never really seemed to have Spike in *too* much trouble despite all the effort he throws into his punches. Chudinov just strolled through everything he had too.

He's a skillful fighter and I think he will beat Blackwell, but I'm still not sold on him being half as good as he thinks he is.

I don't think it sugar..I know it. Did you watch the fight at all? To answer your question Spike was pulled out by Pascal cos his eardrum was bust and his balance was gone. He had been getting hit with literally everything bar the corner stool and wasn't going anywhere. Same with Chudinov.
I find it baffling myself, but for some reason Eubank has no power.
For example Spike, though a lot smaller and much less athletic hits waaay harder. Strange.

Pascal is a doctor is he? How does a boxing trainer conduct a head examination and determine somebody has a burst ear drum during rounds of a boxing match?

Spike was rightful pulled out after the intensity he started with was totally sapped out of him from soul destroying shots to the head. He took an absolute drubbing and was nothing but a punch bag after 4 rounds. And what do you think caused his ears to shatter? Hard blows to the dome is what.
Spike walked through everything BJS threw at him and left the ring fresher than he walked into it. If Eubank has 'no power' , what the hell is BJS packing?:nut

You don't know what you're talking about with Chudinov. He was stopped in the last round . Realistically , it should have been a lot earlier. He held out for so long only because of his iron chin.

It's well documented that Saunders isn't a puncher at all. yeah Chudinov was stopped but that's because he took so many flush shots, he was never wobbled or shaken up at all despite taking all of those big punches from Jr. I wouldn't say he is feather fisted obviously but I'm yet to see enough to say he is a known puncher.

Spike is quite a limited fighter anyway

The fact of the matter is Spike has a very solid chin and he wan't able to deal with Eubanks power longer than 6 rounds.

To say he has 'no power' is ridiculous and just sounds like hater talk.

I watched the fight live. My younger brother actually backed Spike to win and placed a small bet on him to do so against my advice.

I think it was a matter of time before we saw Spike on his back and he looked relieved when Pascal pulled him out. Now, regarding CEJ's power, I for one don't think he's Julian Jackson but he certainly hits hard enough. It was these punches that would have done the damage to Spike's eardrum and Spike being a hardy little puncher if nothing else, soaked up plenty of punishment.

I've lost a lot of respect for CEJ following his behaviour in recent months - especially that sparring incident - and would like to see him humbled myself, but featherfisted he ain't.

If anything is overrated it's his skill level, showboating against the likes of O'Sullivan doesn't make you super skilled.

Eubank isn't a power puncher. He launches full power assaults with both hands and against decent opponents like Spike and Chud they can take these punches for rounds at a time. Hes not feather fisted but his power is only average. I don't know if its cause he throws really wild hooks rather then punches a bit more technically correct cause he throws with bad intentions but he wont be a KO artist at world level. His hand speed is good but I wonder if opponents can see the shots coming because they are often so wide??

I like Eubank as a fighter and this is a good fight but he defo has holes in his game that a good technical fight could exploit if Blackwell can establish the jab and put CEJ on the back foot that could make things really interesting.

He didn't go down and was never out on his feet or anything, so his chin held absolutely fine against the 'power'. He had a burst ear drum and his team feared future damage. It doesn't take a power puncher to burst someone's ear drum.

If i recall correctly , Spike retreated into a shell and didn't even throw a punch for his last few rounds for fear of being countered.

He was eating soul destroying uppercuts early , on top of taking a body beating.

Such is Eubacks power that the impact caused to the body and under the chin reverberated up through his body to rupture his ears.

Thats exactly what he is. He isn't a one punch KO artist , but he throws relentless power shots until he has the guy out of there.
