Anyone watch the boxing on SKY 117 last night, this was supposed to showcase Scottish boxing talent
Thoughts? I for one though it was poor and Peter Martins commentating was the worst I've ever heard lol he knows nothing about boxing and was exposed terribly

It was good to see Scottish boxing back on TV! Hopefully the first of many shows from STV. Hopefully they cover a few different promoters.

Commentary team was poor and needs to change. Good start and great exposure for the boxers.

Flynn looked good. Pity and Ham's opponent getting injured early on though,,,

its a shame we never got to see more of joe ham, he really could reach at least euro level and charlie flynn i fear will fail at domestic level.

Joe has a good workrate and throws spiteful punches, he can box a bit as well. Someone real slick will outbox him I believe but will be interesting to see how far he goes.

Charlie I feel is all about the matchmaking. He boxed out his skin at the Games but I feel a solid hard hitting lightweight with a decent defence will be too much for him in the pro's.

Bad production values but thats to be expected. Its a great idea and I cant imagine they are expecting a huge rating when its not even on every STV region.

Who is there in Scottish boxing that would be good for the commentary team? Maybe some people who are involved in the sport at the moment as they are used to doing interviews and know the circuit?

Wouldn't mind seeing Alex Arthur doing it, but don't know if Sky have any sort of exclusivity over him.

Production values weren't great, commentary team was rotten and the fights were pretty poor - the boy Ham fought bottled it imo and that lad Maguire looked as if he'd never boxed before.

All in all though, better than nothing I suppose.

Arthur like most guys on Sky aren't tied down to exclusive contracts.

Him and Moore are underused and would be an asset to any broadcaster.

Always amazed me how Alex Arthur isn't full time on sky? Or at least on more often than he is, very knowledgable & clear an conscice. Good pundit!

aside from him I'm not really sure who would be a good bet...

I believe that of the pundits only Froch is exclusive to Sky.

For me a good pundit is someone you can learn from, they start talking about feet, angles, those things a novice like myself really do not have a clue about.

Alex Arthur is great at it, Richie Woodhall is another IMO.

But Peter McGuire (sorry Martin) ............. Jeezo man.
