Esparagosa seems to remain a bit of a mystery man despite his Fine record, his record seems to lack recogniseable names, certainly in comparison with Hamed, He seemed a bit of a ring assassin against the So-So's but he did not look quite so deadly when up against known quality winning the title from Stevie Cruz was commendable performance but he had to chip away until acheiving Victory in the 12th, A draw with Marcus Villasana, was another indication that perhaps Antonio was not quite the Dangerman he might of first appeared with Lesser Opporsition. He does However have the Long Armed Streight Punch Armoury to Trouble Naz greatly If we Think of Esparragoza as a Puncher...Well what does that Make Naz..And he Proved it in top Class, Even towards the Ego induced end Naz was still capable of rescuing a Shoddy peformance with a Brutaly Sudden Ko as in the Augie Sanchez Fight, But If he lets Antonio get into his Long-Armed Groove Early he may have difficulty in turning it around, If we are talking About the Hamed Earlier in his Title Reign, The one who Bewildered Jose Badillio with his Boxing Ability, Landing from All Angles. Or the Hamed who could wipe out Tom Boom Boom Johnson with one Shot, Then i think Its Hamed who sets the When and Where Agenda, Alternating his Subsequently Abandoned Boxing Abilty and Movement to Overlay his Rythme On Antonio, And Then once in the Driving seat Hamed would be looking to Unleash some Power Shots, by which time Antonio might well be a little dispirited by Hameds Theatrics, Little Shuffles, the Grinning, The Tapping of the Chin, With Antonio Blowing away his second class opporsition Left Right and Centre this Affrontary would bound to be unsettling, I cant Help feeling that the Best Hamed, before the egotistical rot set in might want to use Antonio as a Showpiece, and i think he might leave this Venuzulan Honest Performer Somewhat Bothered, Bewitched and Bewildered...And ultimately Battered... Marco Antonio Barrera would of had no easy Ride with the Earlier Hamed
Hammed with the ingles was brilliant like Camacho with real KO power not many at batam or feather could beat him when he got rid of brendon and got his brothers in charge and started given it all the Alla ack ba looking for big punch finishing he was finished. One of the greatest wasted talents in British boxing up there with lang .a real shame.
I think Esparagoza by late stoppage or decision. He threw straight, powerful punches. He would catch the sloppy Hamed time and again. Also, the Villasana draw was in LA, where Mexicans are like favorite sons. Villasana sandwiched his draw with Esparagoza, by drawing with a prime Azumah Nelson and a lost a decision to a prime Jeff Fenech, so he was hardly a pushover. Hamed beat some big names, but Johnson, at 33, was startling to slide and Kelly had been destroyed by Alejandro Gonzales two years before he fought Hamed.
I feel like a prime Hamed (95-97) would eventually stop Esparagozza late in a fight he might be losing on the cards at the time of the stoppage.
