When you weigh up his attributes and boxing CV, you'd think he would be a cert, so why don't I feel comfortable rating Lennox so highly?
FYI Canadian's don't have accents. And the answer to this question is that it's a close call. H2h probably, resume maybe. 5-10 is about the range.
I think so.. He was the best of a very good HW era, and beat everyone from his era conclusively The only top guy he didn't fight was Rid**** Bowe and that's cause Rid**** didn't want the fight.. And his physical tools would allow him to compete in any era of HWs if you ask me he is really Top 3
If Lewis was an American he would be viewed more favorably as an All Time great heavyweight which he certainly is. He has a pretty decent argument to be top 5. Lewis fought is a good era of heavyweights and beat a lot of good fighters.
You can make a case for a top 5 spot for Lennox Lewis. 6'5" with an 84" reach and weighed 229 - 256 1/2 in HW World Title fights. He went 41-2-1 (32) overall and 15-2-1 (10) in HW World Title fights. He lost just twice and had 1 draw but he also went 3-0 (2) vs. these fighters in rematches... one of the few fighters who beat every fighter he faced (at some point). He retired as HW World Champ. He beat these world champs- Ossie Ocasio W8 Mike Weaver KO 6 Glen McCrory KO2 Tony Tucker W12 Frank Bruno KO7 Tommy Morrison KO6 Ray Mercer W10 Oliver McCall KO5 Henry Akinwande WDQ5 Shannon Briggs KO5 (Lineal HW Champ/WBO Champ) Evander Holyfield W12 (Hall of Famer/Lineal HW Champ) Frans Botha KO2 Hasim Rahman KO4 (Lineal HW Champ) Mike Tyson KO8 (Hall of Famer/Lineal HW Champ) Vitali Klitschko KO6 (Future Hall of Famer/Ring HW Champ, it's debatable if he was ever "Lineal" HW Champ) He lost to McCall LKOby2 and Rahman LKOby5. He drew with Holyfield. He also beat Ruddock KO2, Golota KO1, Grant KO2, and Tua W12. 5-1-1 (4) vs. Lineal HW Champs... but that list would include Briggs and V. Klitschko. 3-0-1 (2) vs. Hall of Famers... again, that list includes Klitschko.
I have no problem with top 4. He's H2H monster who beat every man he faced in the era of the best punchers the division ever saw.
I think he has a stong case. If he didn't get it, it would be more a reflection of what he was up against.
I'd say no. I guess it's like saying Holyfield is top 3. It's arguable but not at all convincing at the end of the day.
I have him at exactly #5. I can see arguments for him being a tad lower, but definitely no lower than about #7.
