Is Lennox Lewis top 5 material?

I have him at 3 or 4, generally go back and forth between him and Larry Holmes.

His resume is insane.

 

I do not believe he is top 5. But, I certainly understand any arguments that he could be viewed as such.

 

LOL, yes they do. The about's and eh's are numerous. I do think Canadians are fine people. Lewis to me is top 5 H2H, and top 4-6 in terms of a resume.

I have him at #3. If he had a better chin, you could argue #1.

 

Just out of interest, do you factor H2H ability into your "top ten" list?

 

It's not quite that bad. Pretty weak though.

He's 5-1-1 (4) vs. Lineal HW Champs, and beat every man he faced. We both know the draw was bogus. He also fought in talented time and was a long tenured champion.

You're counting Shannon Briggs, among the worst "lineal" champion in history.
And Rahman, not only among the worst but only champ because Lewis lost to him.
The remains of Mike Tyson. 12 years after his reign as champ.

Holyfield is a good win (or two). But a past prime well-worn version of Holyfield.

Outside of Holyfield he didn't beat anyone of important historical worth.
I suppose Vitali, in retrospect, was quite consistent and could deserve a mention.

 

Those are words, not accents. Most Canadian's simply blend in. Popular Canadian's include:
Alex Trebek, Pamala Anderson, Keith Morrison, Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Allan Thicke, William Shatner (Captain Kirk), John Candy, Peter Jemnings and on it goes.

Most Canadian celebrities work and relocated to the USA, and lose their O's

Put it this way, if you line up 5 USA guys and 1 Canadian in a room, the Canadian to me is easy to pick out based on the way he or she pronounces some words.

No offense meant. I think our neighbours to the North in many ways are better people.

 

Can you show me 6 better resumes at heavyweight? It's not a hard request. Who knows maybe I'll learn something.

Some Canadians definitely have accents depending on what region they're from. In fact accents can range from city to city believe it or not.

The best you can say is that he lucked out in fighting some big names when they were on the slide. But that's kinda balanced by meeting a near-prime or prime Vitali when he himself was in slob mode. Name wise his resume kicks ass.

 

The board is full of opinions, and that is one reason why I like it. While I think Rocky would lose his share in the 1990's, some posters know enough about him to offer kernels of truth to say the opposite, and to me, that's worth exploring. The best Marciano poster was Marciano-Frazier, who essentially comes around once in a blue moon these days.

I think Rocky would be fine 200-202 pounds, and most of the best in the 1990's were around 215-225. Only Lewis and Bowe ( who had a short prime ) were significantly bigger accomplished heavyweights. I think Rocky takes the old Foreman and Old Holmes. As stated Holyfield who used illegal stuff was a blown up Cruiser at 190 and he did fine, losing his share too.
