I agree the officials cards was to wide but i fail to see the ward fight as robbery I also had ward up by 2 points.
Just off the cuff... Burton I (clear daylight robbery, but avenged) Sondergaard (the Dane was down twice but escaped with a draw @ home) Leavaner Johnson Teddy Reid Kelson Pinto Sergey Sorokin Arturo Morua Gato Figueroa Vernon Paris (and bear in mind this was Augustus in his late thirties, shot to bits, while Paris was prime and undefeated) Herman Ndougjo Charles Hatley (in Augustus' penultimate bout, right before Vernon Paris) Weiss and Hurtado were commonly held to be close afairs that weren't robberies necessarily, but were too wide on the cards. Mayweather, Ward, Molina, Kid Diamond, Omotoso, and Provodnikov beat him cleanly & decisively...and that might be it. Some of the mid-90's stuff would be difficult to speak on, as it was before he made it on TV.
Yet just another reason why that racist POS Boxing_master should be banned this thread has nothing to do with PBF but he finds a way to **** on a guy like Augustus and bring up PBF. Do us all a favor IB and ban this troll.
Yeah, that looks about right. The Burton decision was the worst - an absolute atrocity. I felt horrible for him after the Paris fight because that should have been a great end to his career. I think we can go out on a limb and say a few of those off-tv decisions were somewhat questionable As an aside, I remember being really impressed with Kid Diamond after that fight. I thought he was going to be a problem but ... that never really worked out.
Kid Diamond had loads of talent but a short prime and was honestly never the same after that night, when Augustus fought him on 48 hours' notice. (I'm not saying there is necessarily a correlation or implying the Drunken Master ruined him or anything, but he did get a gift over Huerta in his next outing...then struggled with a shot Jáuregui and was stopped by DeMarco and then never heard from again..)
He went downhill in a hurry. As IB said, he had a few sub-par performances after Augustus and then retired after the DeMarco loss. He went from promising to finished in record time. He still looked really good against Augustus though!
I thought that he beat Ward in a close fight. The knockdown in the past round was probably the factor that won it for Ward. If I had ever been a promoter I would NEVER let my fighter in the ring with Burton...dude had a crazy style...unless I had a "special relationship" with the judges.
Dude on some real non internet trolling talk, him and that dude from Thunderdomeboxingtalk are the most miserable men that I have ever known of. They are so obsessed with one man that they are willing to attack anything related to being next to Mayweather. It must be cold in their moms basements?
He was a fugazzi. In regards to Burton, as fun as he was to watch, the guy often fought with no sense of urgency and his fights were often close affairs that could have gone either way. He has noone to blame but himself.
