FURY vs GUNN

People get far too hung up on the hype machine.

Can they not translate he's 'the best heavy since Tyson' into 'in reality we think he's pretty good but doesn't have much of a fan base so we need to name drop' and build hype/ Do you still believe in Father Christmas? No. You made your own mind up a long time ago. Same thing here. Is he as good as he's made out - course not. He's been decent but its young and needs more learning fights. Weakish opponent and a step back from Rudenko but if the quality of opposition increases in the next 4-5 fights all will be well.

 

I've never seen a stand-in have such a drop in quality from what was promised.

 

Guinn who had only one fight in 2015 against a guy with 5 wins and 28 losses and then before that fought in 2013.

Mick and the furys telling us that guinn was the only fighter with ***** big enough to fight fury, what a joke! And they were talking about him fighting ustinov.

This is why us fans get annoyed, promise a top ten opponent and deliver guinn.

 

It doesn't really matter if he's "never been stopped". There's no evidence of him having any sort of recent form. KOing an old man who has barely fought in 2 1/2 years won't prove anything much, regardles of his record of never being stopped.
Hopefully he won't be in awful shape, but I'd expect to see a completely shot shell of a once-okay gatekeeper.

That's an atrocious opponent. At 40 years old I doubt he's been spending these last 2 1/2 years slaving away in gyms, thinking about his career and looking for fights.
This is just an old inactive guy who needs a pay cheque.

 

Well they both lost to Toney and Adamek, so not a whole lot of difference. :good

 

I think it has to be taken for what it is a last minute replacement for a decent opponent that was set to provide Hughie with Anthony Joshua's old inter continental belt and a WBC top 10 ranking.

Hughie is still only 21 and this is a better opponent as a replacement than when Joshua went on a murderers row run of scheduled opponents of Skelton, Sprott and Jason Gavern eighteen months ago. And now AJ is fighting for a world title of sorts.

Hopefully the fight at the Coppebox provides another step up.

 

It seems like he has been in a holding pattern since the Rudenko fight- which in fairness is a very good win given the problems he gave Browne.

Guinn is what he is- he's a tough journeyman now who will give Hughie rounds after the Larry debacle last time out.

He's out on April 30th so I have little issue with this fight now. Keep busy and step up in April.

 

HW fighters with fists that could barely break a bag full of sugar in half, do not tend to have much longevity.

I think Hughie will never attain Tyson's status...no where near it

Bobby Gunn wouldn't even be acceptable for Hughie right now. If you mean this as Tyson's next defense, that is just shambolic.

I would go with that.If Gunn is as rusty as i think he might get stopped.After all its only a pay day for him.

 

I bet Fury struggles with Guinn and Joshua goes 16-0 (16) or something..


I guess it was always the case.. until the 2 clash..

Actually my gut feeling is that Fury does a number maybe stop him late.. and I think Joshua will prolly go the distance..
