Me personally I didn't want to see him go out like that..

But I love Dawson quote after the fight "He ain't no gangsta!! a gangsta woulda got up and fought me like a man!!"

I really don't know know why it was officially overturned, but it had to do with the fight being stopped before the 4th rounds

Reminded me of the first Robert Allen fight, where Bernard was having a hard time before suffering a fluke injury that left him "unable to continue." Great Chad Dawson quote.

I thought it should have gone down as a tko for Dawson...it was as much a tko as Mugabe-Jacqout or LaMotta-Cerdan were.

I'm glad he didn't get the ko against his record.Ken Buchanan has one stoppage loss on his record that could have been avoided by giving him more time to recover.
That one L by ko means a lot to a fighter

Why would anyone think it was a tko? How do you win a fight on a bodyslam? Its not wrestling.

Dawson did pick up Hopkins and slam him down. That's obviously against the rules and any injury that results from an infraction against the rules shouldn't be held against the fighter who was injured. Not like the injured fighter in those fights was picked up and thrown to the canvas. Cerdan was clinching and Lamotta was trying to get him off.

And chose to continue. The rules were different back then anyway but it would be pretty lame to say you could continue, and then when its obvious you are going to lose you quit in favor of just taking the "nc". I never saw anything wrong with Hopkins first fight with Allen. It wasnt his fault Mills Lane pushed him out of the ring. Ive never bought the idea that he wanted out because Allen was doing so well. Hopkins usually started slow anyway I cant count all of the times i was sure he was going to lose a fight after the first few rounds only to continually pick up steam and pull way out in front.

well hes a dirty bugga so no, I would prefer if he'd stuck to it and got pounded out as he was heading that way with chad.

but then I'd feel bad seeing someone hitting freely at a 40something guy, that's just sick.

Chad would not have pounded him out. If he went 12 with Kovalev, he would have gone the distance with a much lesser fighter in Dawson. Even in the rematch, Dawson looked relatively unimpressive and didn't muster up anything really spectacular offensively. Kovalev did a far better job and was actually able to hurt him.

I think a genuinely one handed Hopkins would have got stopped, but yes with two hands he wouldn't.

dawson did hurt him in the 2nd fight, almost at wil at timesl, but Hopkins is just too tough to go down.

Hopkins threw a punch. Dawson ducked. Hopkins grabbed and climbed on his back, so Dawson threw him off.
When jab and grab goes wrong, this kind of sh!t can happen. :yep
    (it was a weak-lead-right-and-grab technically, I know).
