I used to be a big fan of his, and I still respect his craft, and consider him the true MW champion, and P4P top 10, but seriously what is wrong with him??!

Doesn't he want to get paid?

Okay, his fanboys say he wants to build legacy, and capture all the titles at MW.. Then why doesn't he prove his greatness like the vast majority of true All Time Greats under HW and seek that career defining fight, rather than being a comformist and twittling his thumbs at the 160 limit?

Its not like he can't go back to 160 after he fights at 155. Why doesn't he call Canelo's bluff then? He was willing to not fight at 160 for a few other fighters, whyis it that with Canelo he won't move?? Strange...

Yes the limit should be at 160, and I don't personally like catchweights, but in this case, either GGG grows a pair and accepts he's the B side, or he can continue to be a good champion, rake up his defenses, get his brain cells damaged for peanuts compared to what he can make and who he will be if he beats a name like Alvarez.

I truly don't understan his reasoning, especially when you consider fighters like Duran, ODLH, Pacquiao, Robinson, Leonard, Mayweather, and a host of many true ATGs who had the cojones, pride, and confidence to move up or down to chase the biggest PRIZE and to face the best opposition.

Canelo at this point has paid his dues and as a result he is now the PPV king. He obviously hasn't accomplished all that he should, but he's earned his current spot, GGG on the other hand, has not paid his dues, yet this GGGuy is acting like he's some kind of fighter with Star POWER. No!
    :patsch

    I don't get it.

How many more threads discussing this?

    What don't you get mate?

He's not a huge MW, it's a prestigious division, he wants to unify, and there's nothing much happening yet at SMW.

Yes, he said he'd concede weight for big fights, but with Canelo it's different. The reason it's different is because Canelo's the lineal belt holder, GG already has two belts, it's a big unification, and GG is the mandatory. So a completely different set of circumstances to going down to JMW to fight Floyd.

He granted Canelo a voluntary, and in the next few months everyone will sit down to discuss a Canelo fight if both guys win their next bouts.

It's really not that difficult to understand.

I don't come by here often enough to keep track of all the GGG thraeds, so my apologies if this thread has been done before..

But to touch on your points, 155 is still MW. Yes, I agree catchweights aren't good most of the time, but if GGG is really going to miss an opportunity of a life time simply because of his pride then he nor his fans should be crying about Canelo ducking him.. I don't think Canelo is avoiding GG, more like he doesn't want to commit to 160.

If GG wants to call his bluff, he should, he would be exposing Canelo, would be getting his BIGGEST payday BY FAR, and will get the name recognition to establish the GGG brand as a major force in the industry..

There are far more rewarding reasons to accept the 155 CW, than to be stubborn refuse anything outside of 160.

Just doesn't make sense from a business, or legacy defining point of view. :huh

wade was the last straw for me, its not worth taking these type of fights at this point. Its a waste of training camp, waste of wear and tear on the body, does nothing. I still think he's a great fighter.

You think he can go down from LHW to MW and even lower for Canelo or Floyd? These are the fights he wants.

Why would he move up and fight De Carolis, Felix Sturm or Arthur Abraham? Felix ducked him for years, Abraham would never fight him either in this step of his career.

Do you expect GGG to move up to LHW now??

Has there ever been a cw mandatory fight in history of boxing?
Canelo is trying to force unenforceable.

GGG would love to face Canelo, would love to take that belt and get the best payday hes ever had too. So he must take this weight thing very seriously for it not to of happened. Its the fight i want to see and its frustrating that it isnt happening. But i cant put this blame in any way on Golovkin.

Alverez shouldnt be forcing people to fight at 155 for that belt. Esecially when the day after the weigh in he is all of a sudden weighing alot more than his opponant. Its just a con. His trainers have worked out that he rehydrates a hell of alot weight wise and the best way to take advantage of that is by doing exactly what he is doing now.

If Alverez weighed in at his favoured 155 and GGG at 160 there would be very little between them on fightnight.

I expect GGG and his fans to stop crying about no one wanting to fight him, when he clearly has options, just not at his precious 160 limit.

The MW WBC strap is a HUGE JOKE!

Who aside GGG really cares about it. Obviously Canelo doesn't seem to care.. At this point that belt does NOT define Alavrez nor GGG. Now its nice to have, and I understand why GGG wants it, so if he truly wants to unify, and get a MASSIVE payday in the process, he should go after it even if it requires moving up or down, otherwise he can continue fighting the Wades of the world.

GGG is the alpha here. Not willing to get bent over by a guy he'd demolish just because he's "cash cow"

    F that.

Many, if not the VAST majority of the ALL time greats moved up or down at one point or another to prove their greatness and earn a huge prize. Why is GGG and his fans acting like he's exempt?

That's fine, he can think that if he likes, he'' just have a smaller legacy, and less money.

GGG is the B side against Saul, he is the one needing to make offers and conceding.
