I don't think it's because he's black so I wouldn't go there. Loma is Arum's golden child, which is why he skipped in line to title contention. Arum finds Loma more marketable so he's investing heavily in him. Favoritism? Yes. Racism? No.

 

Loma isn't boring. He doesn't have a whole lot of power, but he doesn't run though. He's the most complete tactician in the pocket today in boxing by far.

 

Arum has not properly marketed a Black fighter since Ray Leonard. He is the #1 person to say that Black fighters were not marketable. Remember his jewels of wisdom about Black fighters and boxing fans are all over Youtube.:nono

White people aren't really interested in boxing anymore. If you go to fights live now it's basically all Mexicans and black fans. The Mexican guys just go completely nuts about the Mexican fighters. They have the best fanbase so Oscar is just selling to the strongest fanbase.

 

And you know Lomachenko is getting less than 750k to fight Walters? And he is offering 300k of his purse to Walters if he can beat him? And the fight is at 130 with nothing on the line? The money isn't there for the fight because of Walters, it is Walters who is costing everyone money. So stfu.

It looks like Walters wasn't very generous either. The reality is that Walters is not much of a draw. And boxing interest is on the slide at the moment and promoters are starting to feel the sting. HBO has been playing hardball with Arum about this fight and Postol/Ganados. That's why he can't pay that much.

Walters need to stop whining and take the fight. He won't get another opportunity like this.

 

Walters will probably lose the fight though. I doubt he wants to take a fight which will probably turn into a loss.

 

It's called prizefighting. You want the prize, win the fight. Lomachenko is so confident he's offering part of his purse to the winner of the fight.

 

I know that, but Walters is probably worrying about his future earnings. And those probably take a massive hit when he loses to Loma by wide decision.

 

It's a good possibility, but Arum isn't going to put anymore money in it. HBO isn't biting on this fight, along with Postol/Ganados so they're not putting any money into it. Arum is not exactly in a good position right now, because he HBO is throwing their muscle behind named fighters, not relatively casual unknowns like Postol, Lomachenko or Walters.

He lost leverage and he's trying to bring the fight to Showtime. And guess what, they're probably paying less than HBO for the fight.

And Walters should take him up on his offer. Plus for a big payday GGG should fight Ward to get to Mayweather. Everybody fights Royal Rumble style.
