Who was more impressive: Kell Brook or Andre Ward?

Ward beat a fringe contender IBF mandatory by UD.

Brook beat a fringe contender IBF mandatory by KO 2.

    Who was more impressive?

Sullivan Barrera: Boxrec #23 at 175 going into the fight.
Kevin Bizier: Boxrec #20 at 147 going into the fight.

Barrera is not on ANY credible top ten 175 list I've seen (Ring, Transnational, etc), but many are hyping him as a big win for Ward.

Bizier age 31 has faced slightly better competition as a pro and is younger than Barrera, who is 34.

Also take into consideration Ward resorted to illegal tactics (hitting after the bell, holding, and a deliberate low blow thrown with bad intentions). Brook did not need to foul.

The man known as "The Special One" was more impressive.

Would anybody who votes for Ward please explain why a UD over an old fringe contender at home is more impressive than a KO 2 win?

Kell Brook looked sensational and Bizier is far more proven than Barrera, so it would have to be The Special One™

Yes, he showed he is indeed a special fighter.

He's being avoided by some of the other top welterweights. I'd love to see him in with Garcia, Bradley or Thurman.

So on one side you have a guy who beat Jo Jo Dan twice, who turned up merely to get knocked out...and he did. On the other side you have an unbeaten technical Cuban with savage power gunning for s****om and a title shot whom you said would KO Ward. Now tell me, how is a guy proving you wrong less impressive than a result everyone knew would happen? Come on CST you're just hating on Ward now.

    Is this serious?

Brook fights a guy who no one knows and clearly someone who shouldn't even be in the ring with him whilst Ward goes up in weight to fight an undefeated fighter well respected in the division.

Big fan of both but compare Brook with Ward when he starts fighting guys of his calibre, not Bizier for god sake.

Barrera was well respected only by Ward delusional fans. Rankings don´t lie that much. Both fighters were expected to be durable with decent skills. Brooks did the job better hands down.

Barrera came into the fight Hungry. He gave it his all and he performed well despite the enormous step up in competition. Bizier on the other. We've seen what he can do and it's nothing great. Bizier also looked like he didn't even want to be there. If a fighter can make a face that says "I'm here for the paycheck" then it would be the one Bizier made before the opening bell.

I would love to see Brook fight solid competition and do well but this seems like an excuse to hate on Ward. Barrera is the kind of fight a fighter needs to take to jump back into the sport. Also it's not like this fight doesn't help Barrera either. It shows Barrera where he is at in regards to world level and what he needs to work on. Having a loss against Ward this early in your career isn't going to hurt Barrera.

Unforutnately for MOST of us, we believed Barerra's extensive amatuer career combined with his aggressive style would equal SOME moderate success vs Ward, or if, simply make him something of a top 10 LHW....

But in spite of NOT possessing ANY of the attributes that make Cuban fighters great, ie RIGO, Lara, Casamayor, Gamboa.....he had the same Cuban GLASS those fellow fighters shared.

Let's be glad that Kovalev DIDNT fight Barrerra....it woulda been over in 30 seconds.

    As for the OP....

A proven veteran contender in Bizier, coming off an IMPRESSIVE win over the powerful contender Lawson, or Barrera, a prospect, without a single top 20 win on his CV.:think
