What do ya’ll think of Ward talking about moving up to Heavyweight moments after his first fight at Light Heavyweight?

That’s a huge jump for a guy who has made his name at 168 and has just moved up to 175. He mentioned Roy’s jump to Heavyweight and how he envisioned it looking something like that, probably at the end of his career as he stated he would be unable to campaign there.

Has Ward talked about going up to Heavyweight before last night, and do you think there is a real chance of that happening? If Ward were to beat Kovalev, I wonder if that will make him more or less motivated to pack on weight to compete at HW. If he were to beat Kovalev and become LHW champ, would he really want to follow in Roy’s footsteps and move up to HW?

He must have a death wish.

But he won't make it past the Krusher, so its a moot point.

He said if it was a small heavyweight champion, someone that he could beat if he weighed at around 210 if I'm not mistaken.

So Ward wanna do what Roy did. Ward talking about the Roy Jones model. But will there be another Roy Jones? Probly not .. stopped Virgil Hill with a body shot.

I saw him say that at the presser. I highly doubt that will happen. But he said if a John Ruiz type heavyweight is around at the right time he would take it.

idiotic idea, he's not even a big lhw. His size can only handle lhw at most, and there is nothing wrong with that. Why does he need to move up to cruiserweight or heavyweight?

I thought he was joking but he was obviously serious. But that's unrealistic when you look at Ward career and timeline of events. All that heavyweight talk is just fluff for the fanboy media. So were supposed to believe that at age 38 by the time comes Ward will pack on another 20 pounds and be successfull at it. Never

Its all part of the "dare to be great" narrative. But any serious boxing fan can see that its unrealistic at this point. He is just throwing that out there to hype himself up. Wards a good talker.

He said somebody like John Ruiz. Which today would translate into a fat bum that Ward can run circles around. Yeah why fight Kovalev? Just go to heavyweight tomorrow:nut

You never give up hope eh? Why do you wanna see Ward lose so bad. I thought you like humble , God fearing, well spoken guy like Ward. You have better things to say about Broner than Ward.

Listen GOD has Wards back. He can never be defeated just accept it. Kovalev has a shakey chin, we both know this. He has been dropped by Cleverly I think. When was the last time Ward felt canvass? Darnell Booth? Because Booth put Kovalev on the canvass too

Andre Ward is going to "try" to do the undefeated Mayweather thing. And he's already yapping about his legacy when he has over 20 fights before he gets to that point. If he thinks he's that good, let him try. It should be comical.

He says all these extraordinary things but he does so in a PC manner so a lot of people buy into it talk. He said that for him fighting Kovalev is nothing new. He said that he has already beat guys like Kovalev whom everybody said he would lose to. That could translate in why do you guys want to see me fight this Kovalev guy? I beat Kessler and Froch already don't you idiot fans remember?:think

I don't, yet that seems to be what people find important about presidential candidate's. Andre is the anti Floyd but still gets the same hatred. I like how he keeps his composure.

Ward will most likely retire with less than 40 fights on his record.
