Thank you Greg. It is so frustrating to me when a thread is titled about Robinson "cutting to pieces Harry greb", and when it is mentioned Greb had the sight of one eye for a couple years before he died, it was revealed by his doctor at his death someone has to bring up the fact that Joe Frazier also had but one good eye...True but not relative to the thread...Akin to saying about a thread about the great boxer Les Darcy ability in his career, who unfortunately died a young man, some guy posts "Stanley Ketchel also died a young man". What has Ketchel's death have to do with the point of the thread on Darcy ? Nada...cheers.

I statef my case on Archer and you had absolutely nothing to rebut it with. No facts, no experience, no knowledge of the era, nothing. Your basic thesis boiled down to: "Just because Archer got every break imagineable in New York and won several gift decisions that doesnt make him protected." Lol. Worthless.

Its ironic that you call me arrogant but answer a thread aimed at someone else because you thought i was talking to you. I had forgotten you even existed until you started acting as gregs secretary.

Now, as for etiquette lessons, ill take those from you on the subject of greg when that moron stops trolling me. Until then ill wait for him to crawl out of his holes and explain to me exactly how, based on the figures, fighters made more in oz and the sport dried up for darcy prompting him to come to america. And thats just one of the points ive made over the last several years that are based on facts greg cant refute with anything other than childish attacks and trolling. But because i can fire back with both barrells and willingly do so a ***** like you acts like im the bad guy. Grow a pair. You can go back and see i dont start it but if you want to take it there i can and will. If greg wants to keep it civil we can. We can just rely on facts but watch how quickly he reverts to name calling, tantrums, and trolling like ges always done when those facts burst his bubble. Hes petulant child and ill point it out every chance i get until he grows up or slinks off for another year to lick his wounds.

Really? Should i go back and tally all of the posts across eastside, facebook, and boxrec (for a start) that youve started and aimed directly at me? For a guy who doesnt care about me you sure waste a lot of time on me. Have i ever started a post with you in mind? No. Because thats what it looks like to not care about you. Have i answered your inane drivel with facts you cant refute or resolve? Yes and in return you throw a tantrum. People like you and Dempsey find facts inconvenient things that just get in the way of your starry eyed hero worship. Im a realist and as such people like you two jokers will always have a problem with me because you have a problem with reality.

Now, back to your point about about there being more money in OZ during Darcys time for fighters. Care to elaborate or do you just want to admit you were wrong? Come on now. Lets be civil. We wouldnt want to upset Dempseys sensitive sensibilities.

Burt, I have no intention of being your "adversary", and if I have given you that impression, I'm sorry. I don't believe I have ever said anything derogatory to you, or about you... so I'm not sure, why you feel this way.

With regards to this thread, several posters have mentioned other boxers, who experienced eye-problems during their active careers. I'm sure they didn't do this to diminish anything Greb accomplished - and yet it has somehow made you very, very angry! I find this hard to understand, and simply asked you why. How can a reasonable question like that be seen as being hostile?

I am not angry at the poster who brings up an amazingly brave and historical
fact, that Harry Greb, as his Dr testified after his death was BLIND in one eye for his last 5 years or so. But it diminishes this bravery [yes bravery] by saying another fighter {Joe Frazier] also had one blind eye, as well as Pete Herman, Joe Shugrue etc.I also loved Joe Frazier at ringside, but truly Greb had SIX times the amount of fights than Joe did, testing his courage, knowing that one shot in his remaining eye could render him completely blind...The thread reads
"SRR would have cut Harry Greb to pieces", so to dilute this thread by adding another unfortunate blind fighter I believe was out of place. But you B piled on by criticizing me ,when it was a post between I and another chap... It is not the first time B you have taken sides against me when you were truly not involved.
When I first learned the computer and somehow staggered my way [at an advanced age], you and I exchanged private messages for awhile, but you have been somewhat hostile to me by going against my opinions to another one on one poster several times...Beats me if I understand why ???

Well I''l keep it civil and I will let Dempsey reply to you here but I don't get how you cannot see that this post shows great arrogance... anyway, that's up to you how you want to portray yourself.

As for the money thing, Swanwick refers to averages probably, I think even you mentioned that second tier fighters and very good ones without the big names made good money where they were no used to. it's one thing to quote a few fights with the biggest names in america, another for all the other fighters.... was Billy Murray ever going to make decent money staying home ? I doubt it. The figures may sound small to you but back in those days it was a hell of a lot of money.

Be my guest, do it and I will show how it was your trying to make Darcy out as some third rater and your name calling that actually made me come in here to start defending a national icon. When I do post reports or facts to back up anything you simply make excuses to dismiss perfect evidence so why should I bother ? this is just a game to you, that's how you come across. There will be no name calling if you keep it civil and at least show some respect.

GOOD POST but oh no he will think I am praising my secretary... lol, yes you were right, I have always reacted to his arrogant assumptions and name calling but now I don't care, he won't destroy the name of Darcy or mine or anyones if we just ignore his bad posts.

How did I diminish Greb's bravery? I was just saying about Frazier also being blind in one eye and accomplishing amazing feats. My intention was not to undermine Greb's greatness or this thread. I was just saying that Frazier ALSO fought with one good eye. NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. It was just a comment. No nefarious intention was behind it.

Saying "Greb" on the classic forum seems to stir more shyte than praising Geale on the Aussie thread. Damn ...

Lol! especially as no fukker has ever seen him (Greb) fight.

Then again you don't need to see a tornado, only the damage it's caused to know how effective it was, or something ...

only on ESB folks, only on ESB! :nut

M, I have no ill will to your post. I think that you are a nice chap and
good poster so cheers to you M...My frustration is with another one time
friendly poster who has been adversarial to me interceding in posts
between I and some other poster time and again , almost like piling on...good day M...

"How does the mention of other boxers with a similar problem take anything away from Greb? I don't get it!"

The above was my reaction to your very strange post (which I actually had to read twice, to make sure I hadn't misunderstood something). I'm not criticizing you, or taking sides against you - I'm just asking you a simple question, since I honestly couldn't (and still can't!) understand, how the mention of other (partially) blind boxers, could upset you so much.

For the life of me, I don't understand what crime I have committed in posting this question - but if you feel, it was some kind of unforgivable act, I can only apologize.

B, I am extremely sensitive and tremendously sympathetic to any fighter who lost one eye as my beloved dad who weened me on boxing when I was a by, LOST his eye when I was a tot and was forced to drive a cab nights for 30 years, with one eye, coming home in the morning with the remaining orbit swollen and full of puss.
Those long ago days it was hard to make a living, but he did what he had to do .He saw Greb destroy Gene Tunney in 1922, and was amazed upon learning after Greb's death that this truly great fighter
fought with one eye for about 5 years after suffering a detached retina when the 15 pound heavier Kid Norfolk possibly thumbed Greb...So yes I am sensitive to Grebs bravery more so than most others
on this boxing site...I saw what my beloved dad went through for decades just to earn a living...
