SOG's jab to the body was incredible, more fighters today should use it.

Kovalevs body jab is twice as nasty. He makes people fold over when he lands them.

he used it well against barrera but the way he sets up right hands upstairs with it (did this well against smith) is a textbook mayweather move and something i try to implement when i spar aswell

His jab to the body is minor league compared to the harpoon that Kovalev fires.

Kov would walk throw that and land right hand bombs to Ward's head. He needs to forget that body jab in any fight vs Krusher

If Ward use that jab against Kovalev, he could put himself in danger. He has to be very careful because Kovalev will be timing shot with both hands. look at he position he's in when he throws it.

That's the same position Hopkins was in when Kovalev countered him with the right hand and knocked him down.

Both guys have good jabs to the body, but Kovalev's is more powerful. It'll be a chess match for sure in the early rounds, until Kovalev hits Ward and rocks him or Ward gets the better of the jabbing match.

yeh it looks very easy to counter... u can do a low left hook (though its dangerous to hook that low in my opinion unless you know they have commited to the jab to the body. or you can step back on the angle create a nice distance to set up a nice downward right hand. its the way in which ward and mayweather jab to the body tho, its quick and precise with feints its hard to see

I wouldn't say easy, but for a fighter of Kovalev's caliber, it's definitely doable. The left hook is a bit harder because you have to plant your feet correctly. The right hand is always the money punch.

Pascal countered Kovalev with the right hand a few times after Kovalev threw a left jab to the body. And Kovalev countered Hopkins with the right hand when Hopkins tried to go to the body. So this counter is fairly common.

Kovalev's right hand is what's going to hurt Ward. Ward likes to keep his left low, and the head can't always outrun the punch. Kovalev likes to turn the right hand before impact against slick fighters and that sometimes land unexpectedly. Ward is going to need to keep both hands up if he doesn't want to get hurt.

Kovalev also gets off balance at times and does slip and fall in the ring.

Mayweather, Manny, Rigo and Loma use it.
