isn't a major trend slightly trending downwards with a non fan friendly style and drop off in opponents level.....or staying the same from rod to barrera......so not suprising...plus inactivity but like I said..its pointless....ggg doesn't want to fight him...and even if he did and they were scheduled for march or april it would have been a big fight in boxing
Hes only fought on the network 3 times, and each consecutive opponent has been lesser known to the preceeding one. How is that a bad trend? Hes always hit above the 1million mark.
I do think he can turn it around if he stays in the ring, but three fights represents a trend, and Main Events would be foolish not to point that out in negotiations. Also... 1) The rate of the decrease is accelerating, but I'd need to see it happen one more time to call that a trend (1.3 to 1.2= 7.7% drop, 1.2 to 1 = 20% drop). 2) HBO spent $2.3 mil on salary for Ward-Barrera (not including undercard). They spent 43% more than they did on GGG-Monroe's $1.6 million purse for 30% less ratings. I'd have liked to see GGG-Ward, but Roc priced him out of the fight. Asking for a 50/50 split for GGG to come to Andre's weight, and committing to it a year in advance, was a terrible offer that K2 was right to shoot down.
GGG vs Willie Monroe average 1.34m.... ward needs to sweat down to a catchweight or take a BIG cut to get this fight made. He's unquestionably the B-side in this one! 1.064:roll:
hilarious how this thread has gone from being a victory for Ward fans to crash and burn when they can't produce a source :rofl
I'm happy Ward did good numbers. Boxing need all the popular fighters they can get! Still think he's boring to watch but that's just me.
Geat real. Ward-Kovalev will be around 300k May and Pac have seriously diluted boxing fans minds when it comes to PPV numbers. Jones Jr, Hopkins, Pacquiao, De La Hoya and Floyd had plenty of fights that did slightly above 300k and they were all concidered successes.
