Makes no difference to me whether he's a jerk or not. I like his boxing style. I'm paying 500 for two tickets to his next fight. He will never pay me for nothing. Im just pointing out that perhaps he isn't what he portrays in US media.
I've read the original in Russian He was getting ****ed about asking the same questions over and over, over events he has no control of, and since it was his home turf he let his frustrations out. He hates that he has to pamper to a cowardly diva that is being protected by wbc, he hates that Froch teased him with a fight and then promptly retired after saying he was too big and too strong. He hates that BJS got the belt and now is holding it hostage, he hates that his big ticket to s****om couldn't squeeze into 168 and went up to get his ass whooped by Fonfara, after turning down an excellent payday. But most of all, he hates having to fight these inferior opponents while the ones the public thinks are on his level are running with their tails tucked in. Someone in GGG's camp is fluent in english and tells him what morons on the sites are mouthing off, and it bothers him that he is even mentioned in the same sentence as Canelo (that made his fame by losing to Mayweather and being on the receiving end of two gift decisions), BJS that stated clearly GGG is too much of a risk and the rest of the tripe like Eubank Jr and Kid coward. He is bothered that talentless hacks like JC jr are making millions beating down smaller men and then public dares to mention their plodding skill-less selves in the same sentence as him.
Great interview, thanks for letting us now. I didn't read the translation, I read the source, and I also read the first 15-20 comments. The last few questions were specifically explaining himslef to be different then what the media portrays. Gennady:"I'm a closed person with a personal life that I'd like to keep private. " "I'm a professional boxer let's keep things professional by sticking to boxing questions, discussing my favorite cartoons is silly etc" Also another thing I'd like to point out as regards to the Canelo situation. Gennady "Canelo and I have a human relationship, there are a lot of people who are not informed, who don't know what's really going on, and they make assumptions and statements they have no business doing." He also suggested that people in his native country, in his experience, really get no information. Also he reveals that he cares about boxing, and leaving a mark. He suggests, whatever happens with the Canelo situation, he'll keep on fighting, he has people who try to make fights for him (and it is difficult), but he's happy going at the pace he's going atm. (whats in quotations is just paraphrasing from the whole interview) Also you mentioned something about the comment section. 50 percent of the people are saying "great interview/ good guy/ precise and to the point" other 50 % are mixed, some suggesting the interviewer was sour, others saying theyre confused and don't understand where Golovkin is coming from, Golovkin is frustrated, some questions were left unaanswered. Overall great interview.
I think boxing has always been populated by poor men and/or ignorant men. There are some exceptions, but why would you get punched in the face for a living if you had other options? I can understand hobby boxing, but fighting these super scary guys for a job? Nah, that's not the way to go if you can do something about it. Also, I think Carl Froch said only the top 3 percent of fighters make enough money to retire off of.
He didn't actually curse, whoever translated it added that instead of saying "it's intrigue, in the way of PR."
I agree with this. I'd like for GGG to personally call out Lara, send a legit contract, and when it gets turned down he can silence His critics. The reason for the Lara call out is: Lara has repeatedly called out GGG in person and online. Lara fought Canelo and Is common opponent. Lara is a tough customer for any fighter. Lara is ammunition for GGG haters. As soon as Kovalev beat BHop and Pascal twice he's recognuzed as the truth.
And he talked about "the smiling image" in the interview. A lot of his comments revolved around image, communication and perception. So trolling then?
No trolling dude. I'm not the troll type. I seriously believe that the man is putting on a public image as he states. Inside he's a different beast. Kind of explains his fighting style
GGG comes across as perceptive, open, and responsive from what I've seen in his interviews. His attitude towards Canelo seems friendly, understanding, and showed no hostility... IMO. His "read" on GBP's demands are insightful, perceptive, and realistic, recognizing it's about their "PR business face" to the public. I liked his comment about GBP's "trying to look cool" !!! He seems confident, secure in standing firm on the "catch weight" & other issues. My read is... GGG just will not "crack under pressure" either inside or outside of the ring !!! GGG is one tough Cookie !
I've wrote about this interview month ago or so. I've wrote that he was very ****ed with interviewer. Fans in KZ were ****ed aswell, as same questions were asked to him again and again and as far as I know the interviewer was late and was quite impolite. But no matter what he will do, he will be forgiven here for any actions.
