Because Ward is not Chavez?

Kovalev can beat a lot of mediocre cruiserweights right now, but if he was to fight the best cruiserweight, it'd only be natural for him to ask for a catchweight, don't you think? That's how it works. With the same reasoning, Ward was ok going to 160 for Mayweather, so why can he go down to 160 for Mayweather and not 164 for GGG? Simples, the money K2 offered wouldn't be worth the risk. Like I said, there is no "ducking" from either side, the fight simply could not happen.

 

When floyd considers a fight at 160 I'll take that comparison seriously......floyd has mentioned thats a too high and has never seriously attempted to make a fight at 160.....Ward's talk about that was pure fantasy ......ggg made serious efforts at 168 with more than one fighter including a guy ward fought

Regardless of who said what, lets just see what the basic argument is here.

People hammer Golovkin for not jumping up to 8lb to 168 to fight Ward but give Ward a pass with his many tune up fights to jump 7lb to 175 to fight Kovalev.

Ward pretty much made it clear Saturday with his B- grade for his performance that he isn't fighting Kovalev next so I expect the same people who hammer Golovkin to hammer Ward.

Just be consistent.

 

He signed a 3 fight deal....hbo and kova wanted it to build ....neither hbo or kova wanted it right off the bat.......the loser of ward/kova Is going to take a hit......might as well get some paydays in first

Ward has also been out of action for some time ....real action prior to Barrera

 

Just admit that chavez is a bigger payday and so is Floyd that is the reason he would take a weight disadvantage. Ward is not a big payday and therefore why does he need to concede to a weight disadvantage for ward. Why can't the ward sac swinger's admit THAT!!!

 

Ward fight is still career high payday for ggg....he didn't get chavez! Floyd is a veryyyyyg loonngggg shot

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses that's all we hear now from Ward and his fans (not saying you are one) about the reasons not to fight Kovalev next.

How long do they need to build it? Fans are interested now, they want it now, what happens if there is a shock result and either fighter gets beat? That fight is dead, Ward hasn't got a fan base to fall back on, it's a huge fight now but not if either has a major setback.

Ward is back, he is active, he has had a couple of fights above 168, how much longer does he need?

I'm asking for the people who hammer Golovkin for not jumping 8lb to fight the best in the 168 division to do the same with Ward now for not jumping 7lb and fighting the best in his division, people can't have it both ways.

The fans are more than fine with waiting till the end of year for kova ward trust the that ...as is hbo

People prob wouldn't hammer ggg as much if he didn't make a stupid offer designed to make ward go away...., if he just said "not interested" it might not have been a big deal....in fact they did say that but still threw in the ridiculous weight they knew ward couldn't make to look tough

For the life if me I can't fathom how someone can say "why doesn't ward fight kova now what if one of them loses and then it ruins the fight"...

If that were to happen then something Is wrong and faulty and the fight was never meant to be what it's supposed to be

The reason people wanted ggg to take the ward fight when they did is because that fight had a limited lifespan that is well over now....ward kova ain't goin nowhere
