Why do opinions have to be so black and white (probably quite literally in some cases)? I like both of them. May the best man win. But whoever you support there is no way an educated boxing fan can call this fight with any certainty.
GGG gets more hype because he has 21 straight KO, hes never been knocked down in any fight. Kov has been stopped in the amateurs and has been down 3 times
Kovalev is more popular because he is Russian and supported by Putin where Golovkin is from Kazakhstan, a country no one even knows who is president from.
What does the amatuers have to do with anything? Kovalevs resume in the pro ranks is miles ahead of GGG'S with less pro fights as well.:deal And G has knocked out c level fighters.. I don't find that too impressive.
Kovalev doesn't have a cash cow anywhere near him to bring him casual attention. You know this but you make this thread anyway. Why?
Ward will Garner him his biggest payday to date... And you're late to the party, this thread was made last year.:hi:
Kovalev had top guys like Hopkins man up to fight him Golovkin has the 160 pounders messing their pants at the thought of having to fight him. Both have my respect noy their fault the wuzzies are afraid if them :scaredas::scaredas::scaredas:
Both fighters deserve the hype but I favor Golovkin with the eye test. Kovalev is the more accomplished fighter but he is not as complete of a boxer as Golovkin is. I also believe Kovalev is quite a bit more hittable than Golovkin as well.
Eye test doesn't count... It's who you've beaten to get where you are.. And Kovalev has beaten the better fighters, yet GGG gets mostly all of the recognition and hype for beating mediocre opposition..:deal
I'm glad I didn't put both, because that option would have been the majority pick and it would really be unfair to Kovalev and his supporters that GGG fanboys would use that as a cop out to justify GGG as equal to Kovalev in terms of resume or because of the so called "Eye Test"! It's one or the other:deal
