Cute story I'd like to share with the classic forum

Doesn't really have that much to do with boxing but its cute.. My daughter has gotten deep into a cable reality tv show called " finding Bigfoot." Its a show where these people go out into areas where some claimed to have seen the legendary Bigfoot or sasquatch if you will. She was convinced that Bigfoot was real !! So I agreed with her and said that he was !! I said there is a real bigfoot. His name was Everett "bigfoot" martin. And she said " who's everett bigfoot Martin?" I told her he was the real bigfoot who was often sited around Tyler Texas and spotted on television in boxing matches when daddy was growing up. She rolled her eyes and said " DAD !!!". I said its true. They called him bigfoot because his friends made fun of him for having hair on his back... But Everett" Bigfoot" Martin is the only Bigfoot there ever was...

 

LOL well at least she will grow up knowing more about boxing than 90% of the posters in General

 

And more about Bigfoot than the people who do that show !1

 

I get over to Tyler a couple of times a year....I may try to give Mr. Martin a call.

 

Do you know him personally?

 

No...but in East Texas, everyone knows somebody who knows someone...so if he is still in Tyler, it wouldn't be hard to find him. I will try to look him up the next time I am over there....you know he beat Tim Witherspoon back in 1992.

 

Yes I saw it on USA Tuesday night fights.

 

Nice story bro...oddly enough I was re-reading an old boxing magazine the other day and there was a pretty good article about Bigfoot Martin in it. Don't ask me which mag it was though...but it was good to read.

When Bigfoot fought on TV some announcer would always talk about how odd the nickname was because he wore like size 9 shoes.

He got the nickname because he didn't shave his torso like most boxer and was one very hairy fellow.

 

That weren't cute that was rubbish

 

I found that slightly disturbing.

 

I thought the same thing.
