I always reckoned a British stoppage win for Joshua was a high possibility in the upcoming fight.
A scenario in which Joshua starts fast, unloading some heavy artillery, rocking Martin, the referee waves it off quick with Martin and many fans protesting the stoppage.

Now, with the recent Eubank Jr. - Blackwell episode, I think those high possibilities have increased.

The fight could be over before it gets started. Perhaps the majority of Joshua fans won't mind that, since a lot of them want the win no matter what.

    I don't envy the referee.

AJ won't need a British stoppage, Martin will be sprawled across the canvas drooling.

the referee in the blackwell vs eubank fight did nothing wrong and was at no fault

also blackwells corner wasnt at much fault either, he was still competitive and blackwell wastn given any signs of distress

reminds me of the mago vs perez fight, id money on a perez stoppage and i taught the fight should have been stopped(maybe i was bias) but mago was still fighting back and given a good account of himself. these things happen fighters can be suffering serious injuries but might not show signs of it until after the fight. we cant blame corners and referees in retrospect when there was no signs for them to go on.

but yes i see british stoppages getting taken to ridiculous levels

and i think most serious injuries in boxing rings happen when you have a tough nut eg blackwell, mago who are able to take a serious beating over the course of a fight and still fight back. not when some guy unloads with a flurry of arm shots and looks semi hurt but isnt badly hurt which is the case with most british stoppages

  6. When has Joshua needed a "British stoppage"? He will KO Martin and leave his career in ruins.

its a 50-50 fight between two semi unproven fighters. joshua might get 'nistored' again

He's only had one real pro fight.

I didn't say he will "need" a British stoppage. But it's not in his hands, it's the referee and the pressure the referee is under for variety of reasons.

It's a world title fight but I have a feeling if Martinis is dropped and gets up its waved off.

And they will justify it by raising the Blackwell fight.

But you can bet you last pound coin if AJ is dropped, the referee will not start counting straight away, stand in between them, as Martin tries to push forward to finish the job the referee will push him back and give him a 10 second lecture... It will not be stopped until Joshua is out cold.

It's the British way, the Matchroom way and the way we like it

I hope Ian John Lewis isn't reffing the fight for this very reason.

Does Loughlin have to go in front of the board to explain his side of the situation or is he allowed to ref on? I thought he reffed that fight spot on for the record.

Hopefully Loughlin doesn't have to go in front of the board, I shouldn't think he would as Robert Smith have said they've reviewed it and see no fault.

    Loughlin wasn't at fault.

Chuck Terry O'Monger in there to ref.

The fight will be stopped right after they touch gloves.
