Does anyone else find the transformation in Vito Antuofermo's physique between the two Hagler fights either suspicious or impressive? In the first Hagler fight he looked like his usual self, muscular, strong, etc but nothing out of the ordinary. In the second fight he was absolutely ripped. Even his facial features looked like they were carved out of stone. I had never really noticed that before but I watched both fights today and the difference was striking. Thoughts?
Yeah, I remember Vito looked really "powerful". I think he was coming off some Minter losses and knew this would be his last shot at the title.....so maybe "he did what he had to do" ...to be competitive against Hagler.
Im not outright saying he as on anything but Antuofermo's best asset was always his stamina. He was always in shape. So to go from what he normally looked like in shape to being that chiseled, and chiseled is the perfect word for what he looked like for Hagler 2, was interesting to say the least.
Haven't seen either fight in a very long time. Going to check them out again soon. Thanks for the insight:good.
His diet must have changed and he could have trained for power in the re-match as he was not going to outbox Halger. The draw to me looks like a bit of a reach. Hagler edged it.
Vito....with minimum real skills....tangled with some pretty tough hombres for 2-3 years. Gotta give him credit for what he accomplished.
Ive actually bwen watching codfather 3 tonite and vitos appearence there is very striking altho his acting as the tough guy less so....but real presence
Pressuring an opponent and turning a match in to a fight is a real skill. Vito was not cute, but he had skill, he never would have won the championship if he didn't.
Vito crushed that great MW Hugo Corro to take the title, then successfully defended it against Hagler.
