Can you name 15 MW champions you would strongly favour to beat Chris Eubank?

I'm not saying Chris is an ATG MW, I know how thin his resume is.

But he was one of the 3 men to get me into the sport and as a youngster I remember thinking in his prime he was nigh on unbeatable.

Plus I'm bored of HW threads.

So give a list of 15 men you favour over Eubank. No more, no less. And I will see if I can forge an argument for Chris against one of your 15.

Or we can leave this thread to die and continue discussing HWs.

Yes that's why I asked for 15 MW champions who would beat him.

I'll limit it to the 1930s on so that the question of film is not an issue.

    Freddie Steele
    Sugar Ray Robinson
    Carlos Monzon
    Marvin Hagler
    Michael Nunn
    Roy Jones Jr
    James Toney
    Bernard Hopkins
    Mike McCallum
    Sumbu Kalambay
    Billy Conn
    Rodrigo Valdez
    Charley Burley
    Holman Williams
    **** Tiger

Honestly, ignoring guys like Greb and Ketchel and Walker it is a rather short list. I chose guys that I think could outbox him and guys who he couldn't out fight. I think Conn isn't a middleweight champion but screw it. Some of these guys might be a little small to get the job done.

Good list dude. But we're stretching the term "champion" a bit i think?

Should Bob Fitzsimmons be on the List to defeat Chris?

Can't you see Eubanks pre-fight in the ring doing all that 'karate" stares & stances....and Rudy Robert prancing around on those spindly legs?

Plus we've never seen Greb fight so that kinda has to be thrown out.

Griffiths and Valdez could find themselves out boxed by the stronger Eubank if his jab is hard and fast enough to offset their attack.

At this level you always have to hold his lack of activity against him and assume at some point the likes of Griffiths would let their hands go and out work him but then by doing that they leave themselves open and Eubank could certainly bang.

I've never really seen him as a top 15 type h2h fighter but now I'm beginning to wonder.

Well no you can't throw Greb out for me - i'm confident Greb would beat Eubank without seeing him.

Griffiths isn't getting out-boxed by Eubank. He's got a puncher's chance here. You can't out-wait Griffiths at his best. It's impossible. Valdez, I think would out-hit him.

He's definitely not top 15 h2h. There are loads of champs in like 50-50 type fights with him and maybe guys who are slender favourites - not sure how he would deal with the athleticism of Nunn and Taylor for example, Michael Watson I would expect to beat him about half the time at MW - then you've got Burley, Williams, Kalambay etc. - who would all be favoured over him.

When I said you throw him out, I mean me.

I agree with the Griffiths point actually, but he might actually be the greatest MW I could envision Eubank beating. But I would expect Eubank to do the cleaner work but Griffiths to do a lot more work and take a decision.

Valdez I don't see beating Eubank, but then again I've not seen an awful lot of him outside the Monzon fights.

But yes ultimately as few fighters to outright favour over Eubank there's just as few you can outright favour Eubank over.

I think the vast majority of men he's about 50/50 with but that ranges over a hell of a lot of men from Griffiths to Graham.

Im very high on Eubank and think he was a terrific fighter but I think saying he was stronger than Valdez would need to be proven. Valdez was a tank. He was tough, durable, busy, and could punch. I think he make Eubank and outwork him over the distance. Id love to see it though because I think both guys are underrated and both are favorites.

I still remember some of his displays like Dan Sherry and wonder why he is even being quoted top 15 atg.
